I woke up in a cell. A very small cement room with absolutely nothing. There were bars for the door that was chained shut. Outside was a long cement hallway leading to many other cells. They were empty.

A dim light bulb outside my cell casted shadows everywhere I looked. I shivered, realizing it was really cold in the small, dark cement room. There weren't any windows and I had the sense I was underground.

I should have been freaked out. I should have been beginning to panic.

For some reason I felt unusually calm and instead of looking for a way out- there was none- I painfully pushed my mind back to the most recent events I could remember.

Werewolves.
The man.
He had knocked me out and brought me here.
Where was I.
Why did he kidnap me.
Most importantly, how on earth did I get kidnapped? Again.

This time I knew I wouldn't escape.

My eyes adjusted to the dimness of the room and I was about to inspect the chains around the door even though I knew I couldn't unlock them- they were huge. Before I could start crawling over- I still felt too weak to walk- I heard a noise at the far end of the hall.

Click...Creak... Slam!

I jumped at the sudden noise and didn't move as heavy footsteps filled the hallway. They became louder and soon I could make out a dark figure coming towards my cell. I could tell it was a man from the shape of its tall muscular outline and from the shadowed face that came into focus.

He looked old by the seriousness on his face but I could tell he was younger- he had to be mid-twenties. He kept his eyes glued on me, as if I would suddenly disappear if he looked away.

He slowly approached me, his brown eyes searching my face for something I didn't know. Once he was near my cell I could feel this odd energy come over me, the only other time I had felt it was when I was with.... Carter. It was hard to explain, an air of power, which unconsciously made me feel intimidated and forced me to cower back. It hadn't been this bad with Carter- this power made it hard to look into his eyes.

"Hayden." His voice made me internally cringe.  I could hardly make out his features since a shadow was cast across his face. "You have been unintentionally raising havoc in our world and with that your popularity has grown." He smiled, but it wasn't a smile, it was more like a humorous scowl.

I knew by 'our world' he was taking about the werewolves. However I didn't know why I was 'popular' to him.

He waited for me to speak, almost hoping I would. When I stayed silent he chuckled darkly.

"I suppose I should introduce myself?" He crossed his arms. "I'm Derek."

"You're an Alpha." The words slipped out before I could stop them. However I sounded braver than I felt.

He smiled. "Pretty smart for a human."

Once I found my voice I looked up at him. "What do you want with me?" It sounded like a statement rather than a question.

"You didn't figure that out yet? Think Hayden, what would I possibly be able to do with a Luna of another pack?"

All I was thinking was that I was glad there were bars between us.

"The best part is," he continued, stepping closer, "You just so happen to belong to Silver Moon, who I have been needing revenge against."

I glared at him. What scared me was that he really did look like he had been waiting to do something terrible to Silver Moon for a long time and he was finally getting a chance.

"Carter made a mistake leaving you unprotected and now he will do anything I say because I have his mate."

"He won't." I shook my head. What Derek didn't know was that Carter didn't want me and he could care less if I was here. I tried to hide the pain in my features by looking away.

Derek looked surprised and for the first time lost his serious façade. "Maybe you aren't that smart after all. You see, an alpha will do everything in his power to protect his mate, even die for her." He began to have this distant look.

His words silenced me and an odd feeling came over me. I felt sad, yet anger began flowing through my veins. Even if Derek had been lying, just mentioning hurting Carter made me want to do anything I could to protect him.

Derek reestablished his seriousness and turned to walk away.

"What did Carter ever do to you?!" I asked in desperation, trying to change his mind. I moved closer to the bars.

Derek froze and slowly turned back, he had the darkest look on his face, and his eyes were black.

"Something that I'll never forget."

He walked down the hall and disappeared.
