Chapter 25
The entire next day was spent doing absolutely nothing. I felt really alone and depressed.
I had been flipping mindlessly through channels on tv when I heard a loud noise.
It was a howl.
At first I huddled closer to my blanket but when another howl sounded I got up.
Curiously I walked to the back doors and squinted out in the darkness.
I couldn't really see anything but the shadows amongst the trees.
I was puzzled because usually the only howls I ever heard we're from the coyotes. However this howl was....different.
As if on cue another howl echoes through the night.
I quickly slipped on some shoes and opened the door a crack.
The fresh night air hit me and I searched for any movement in the yard.
I jumped when I saw a pair of eyes glaring at me in the woods.
A pair of wolf eyes.
"Carter?" I whisper to myself as excitement floods through me.
No answer.
My breathing picked up and before I knew it I was out the door and approaching the wolf.
The familiar black fur and blue eyes welcomed me as I crept closer.
"You came back?!"
I couldn't believe Carter was here, standing right in the open.
I was thankful it was night time so no one could see him.
Carter stayed still, staring me down as I started jogging his way.
"Carter I-"
As I stopped about a foot away from him I realized something was wrong.
Something was very wrong.
Realization hit me as I noticed this wolf was black, but with greenish eyes. Not blue.
My body sensed it before I did.
This was not Carter.
I began stepping back and right before I turned to run, someone's voiced sounded deeper in the woods.
Suddenly a man walked out with a sinister smile on his face. He was tall and heavily built. He looked maybe in his thirties and he had dark brown hair with glowing eyes.
"Well, well, well, would you look at that."
His voice sent shivers through me and I was too shocked to speak. He obviously knew about werewolves because he was now standing right next to the wolf's side.
If it was possible to look intimidating even standing next to a werewolf doubled your size, then this man surely did.
"And here we thought we'd have to hunt you down Luna. But you came right to us!" He hook his head and let out a laugh.
I shuddered at the sound and turned to run away.
Before I could get back to my house, a huge wolf blocked my path as an icy hand grabbed a hold of my hair and pulled me back.
I screamed as pain shot through my head and I started kicking and punching whatever was grabbing me.
"You little bitch!" a male voice yells when I feel my fist connect with his jaw.
A hand suddenly clamps over my mouth, silencing my cries for help.
I try to bite his hand but its no use as I'm pulled back into the dark woods.
