Werewolves. That's what I had just said out loud. Why was that the only word that I had said?

"What?" My parents both asked.

However now that that word was out I could continue.

"Werewolves," I repeated, "are... real."

I gaged my parents reactions and they were staring blankly at me.

"Hayden what are you talking about?" My mom exclaimed while my dad said, "what the hell do werewolves have to do with anything?"

I said everything so fast, "The men who kidnapped me were werewolves. They exists guys. There are packs all over the country."

My parents' eyes were wide and their mouths were hanging open.

Great, I thought, now they're going to send me to a mental institution.

"Packs... of... werewolves?" My dad finally muttered.

Yes work with me here!

"Kidnapped by..." my dad looked at me with a worried look on his face. Worried about my sanity. "by... werewolves?"

I could hear Carter chuckling once again beside me. "This is hilarious," he smirked at me.

I narrowed my eyes at him. Where's my backup?

As if reading my thoughts he sat up straighter and coughed, trying to hide his smirk.

"Carter is a werewolf too."

It couldn't be unsaid. I had already said it. It couldn't be un-

"Hayden I don't know what the hell is wrong with you or if you are on some drugs or..." my dad was mumbling incoherent words at me.

"Dad I would never do drugs and you know that! I asked you to trust me!"

"Trust you about werewolves?" He asked incredulously.

My mom was just staring between Carter and I, eyes wide.

Carter cleared his threat and finally spoke up, thus saving me from my trip to the looney bin.

"I can show you."

If my dad hadn't disliked Carter before, he certainly did not like him now.

"Carter, is it?" My dad rose to his feet, "you need to get out of my house this instant!"

Carter stood up and faced my dad. Although they were close to the same height, I could feel the power rolling off of Carter in waves.

I'm pretty sure my dad could feel it too because he reluctantly took a step back.

"Sir if you would be so kind as to follow me outside, I would be happy to show you that I am, in fact, a werewolf." His voice was becoming lower which meant he was getting angrier.

"I said get out of my house," my dad's voice was significantly less threatening than before.

I stood up, "dad please?"

I looked at him trying to communicate through eye contact so I could beg him to trust me.

"Please trust me?"

My dad sighed, "Okay I will go outside."

My mom followed him silently as we walked out the back door because of course doing this in the front of the house would be absolute craziness.

Well I guess, either way it would still be crazy.

As soon as we were outside Carter waisted no time in disappearing behind a tree.

My parents gave me a questioning look but I kept my gaze on the tree.

Behind the tree, in fact, stepped out a huge black wolf.

Even I stared in amazement, not in the slightest used to Carter in his wolf form.

"This has to be a joke," my dad mumbled out just as Carter's wolf nodded at him and walked back behind the tree.

"Please don't freak out." I told my parents.

My dad's arm was wrapped around my mom, practically holding her entire body upright.

Carter walked back out as he gracefully finished putting his shirt back on.

Don't you dare blush at his abs, I criticized myself, feeling my face heat up.

Seriously in a time like this?

My dad kept opening his mouth and closing it while staring at Carter walking back to us.

Carter was hiding a smirk I could tell. He was surely getting entertained by showing off his utterly crazy yet amazing... gift I guess you could call it.

My dad was still gaping at Carter while my mom was looking unnaturally pale.

It was a good thing my dad wasn't completely unaware of his surroundings though, because at that moment his arms reached out to catch my mom. Who had fainted.

Come on Mrs. Chambers don't be such a damsel in distress!... I guess I'll excuse her actions only because if I was in her shoes I'd probably pass the heck out too. 😅 Also I feel like Carter was having too much fun with that 😏 Thanks for reading if anyone is even still reading this bloody book that hasn't been updated in forever because of some author horribly busied with the horrors of college 😂 Also also, yes I know this is another short chapter but what the hey 🤷🏼‍♀️ Vote if you're feeling exceptionally generous this fine lovely day/ afternoon/ night while I let my sleep deprived self finally get some shut eye 💃🏼
