Chapter 12

Every time my heart beat, my head would pound, causing dull pain to curse through my body.

The noises around me started to get louder and I kept my eyes closed shut, trying to stay calm.

I heard a constant buzz sound, coming from somewhere in the room, along with people's low voices. It sounded like they were far away, since all I could hear were mumbles.

I decided to open my eyes, but shut them once again after taking in the bright light that was shining in my face.

"Hayden?!"

I heard someone call my name. They sounded really close so I forcefully opened my eyes once again and squinted toward the voice.

Sitting in a chair, by the side of my bed, was a relieved looking Cole staring at me.

"Where am I?" I croaked out, looking around the strange room I was in.

Everything was white- from the walls and ceiling, to the blankets and pillows around me.

There was a counter lining the far corner and everything seemed too clean.

Cole just kept on looking at me, his expression slightly worried.

I followed his gaze to my arm, that had a tube thing hooked to it. It lead to an IV hanging above me.

"What the-?!" I grabbed the tube, to rip it out of my arm, but Cole's hand flew over to stop me.

"Hayden don't. It's okay."

"Where am I?" I asked again, still looking at the IV.

Silence.

"Cole!" I gave him a deadly glare.

"Your at the pack doctor. Your fine now, we were just waiting for you to wake up." He hesitantly told me.

"We?"

"Yeah, I should probably tell Carter your up now." He glanced at his phone that was in his hand.

I tried sitting up and my hand flew to the back of my head, where it felt like something was stabbing me.

"Does it hurt?" Cole asked, nodding to my head.

I felt the large bump on the back of my head.

"I'm fine." I lied. "What happened?"

Cole furrowed his eyebrows and looked down.

"You hit your head....while running through the woods."

I tried thinking back to anything I could remember, but my mind came up blank.

"I was in the woods?" I muttered confusingly.

"Uh, yeah." Cole shrugged. "When we found you, you had a pretty bad cut on your knee and your head was bleeding..."

I pushed back the covers to find that I was dressed in a night gown type thing that went down to my knees.

I lifted up my right leg to get a better look at the bandage across my knee.

I slowly ripped it back, looking at the stitches that were now lining my knee.

"You had to get some stitches." Cole confirmed.

I was too busy staring at my leg, remembering everything suddenly.

It all came at once.

Crying in the bedroom and deciding to run away.

Running into the woods behind the mansion and finding the wolves.

And then being carried away to....here?

"The wolves!" I gasped.

"What?" Cole straightened up.

"You found me in the woods. Didn't you see the wolves too?"

"No..." He kept a serious face.

"Cole, they were, they were huge! And there were so many of them, I ... " I ran a hand through my long hair. "They were fighting..."

"You hit your head pretty hard Hayden." Cole was looking at me like I was crazy. Of course.

I did sound crazy. And slightly delusional.

I figured I should shut up before Cole made me stay here forever.

"So if I'm fine, can I go?" I suddenly asked Cole, changing the subject.

"No."

"So I'm not fine? You said I was!"

"You are, but you have to stay here until Carter comes."

"Why? He's not in charge of me?"

Although he did kidnap me.

But by the looks of it, he was probably going to let me go anyway. He hadn't really kept me locked up or anything, and plus, who would want to put up with me?

Just then the door opened, and in walked Carter, with an expressionless face.

"Carter." Cole sighed with relief and got up. Probably glad he didn't have to deal with me anymore.

Carter just nodded to Cole walking out the door and turned to me.

I tried to keep my face as emotionless as his, wanting to leave as soon as I got out of here.

I would find a phone and call the police, and my parents.

Just thinking about my parents, made me feel horrible, even guilty. Though I didn't have a choice of staying here, my mom and dad were probably searching the entire US for me already.

When I noticed that Carter had took the chair Cole was in before and was now looking at me, I got pulled out of my worries.

"How are you feeling?"

Pretty good for being just about eaten alive by a hundred freakishly large wolves and then getting knocked out.

I gave him a hard stare and stayed quiet, turning the other way.

"Thought so..." He muttered.

"Look Hayden, I have to tell you something, but you have to listen until I finish."

Still ignoring him, I pretended to be busy looking at the tube hooked to my arm.

"Hayden!" A loud growl made me jump.

Carter stood, looking pretty angry.

"I'll listen." I said crossing my arms. "But first, I want to get out of this place."

Carter looked at me for a long time.

His blue eyes swirling with black.

Finally he walked out of the room, while slamming the door.
