I hesitated to knock on the familiar door. I looked behind me and locked eyes with Carter. He gave me a reassuring nod.

I took a deep breath and knocked on the door. To my house.

Carter and I had spent most of the past few days talking things out. Like seriously talking things out. Carter was now finally opening up to me and giving me more than enough information about the werewolf world.

We decided that obviously it would be best if the first thing we did once we were back was to let my parents know I was still alive.

I heard the handle turn and was suddenly face to face with my mom.

When she saw me she let out a shriek and pounced on me, pulling me in for a hug.

"Hayden where have you been? You've been gone for so long! What happened? We thought you were kidnapped! We called the police! They've been looking for you! Oh honey come here! She's here!" She called to my dad who was somewhere in the house. I patted my mom on the back as she was now crying.

I felt guilty although I hadn't willingly left the house. I hadn't willingly left the first time either, a voice in my head sarcastically told me. Yes I remember.

My dad rushing to the door caught my attention and soon he was half hugging my mom and half hugging me. I was glad to be in their arms and that they were relieved.

Now I just had to answer a lot of questions.

My mom looked up for the first time and I saw her eyes move behind me.

"Who is that?!"

Yes, a lot of explaining.

I had finally gotten my parents to calm down enough to sit in the living room so we could talk everything out. Once my mom had pointed out Carter, her and my dad had jumped to the conclusion that I had ran away with him.

Hilarious, I know.

"No mom I didn't run away," I said for the tenth time, trying to stay calm. Carter who had taken a seat next to me grabbed my hand in his.

My dad instantly jumped up, looking like the couch he was sitting on had just caught fire. I checked, no fire.

"And just who is this?" My dad took a step closer to Carter. Although he tried to look threatening I knew he would never intimidate Carter. Which one could turn into a wolf after all?

Carter's eyes slightly narrowed at my father as I held up my hands in defense. Maybe if I tried hard enough I could freeze my dad in place. In the process I had let go of Carter's hand and my dad noticeably relaxed his shoulders.

I rolled my eyes. This was harder than I thought it would be!

All of a sudden my mom shouted out accusingly, "we thought you were kidnapped!" I could see the worry in her eyes she was still holding on to.

"I kind of was, mom," I sighed.

"What? You were! By who?" Both my parents seemed to have yelled in unison. Although my dad was the one glaring at Carter. He might as well have pointed at him and said he kidnapped you didn't he?

"Okay first off, yes, I was kidnapped. And not by Carter," I gave my dad a hard look.

I took a deep breath to continue but drew a blank.

Where do I start? There was so much to say yet I couldn't think of anything to talk about all of a sudden.

The only thing running through my mind was werewolf, werewolf, you need to tell them... it's the only way they will truly understand.

"Mom, dad, I would never lie to you about being kidnapped. I mean, it's a serious thing!"

Out of the corner of my eye I could see Carter giving me a weird look. Almost silently asking me where are you going with this?

I continued, "So with that being said... yes, I did get kidnapped. By a man named Derek." At the mention of his name, Carter growled.

My parents were staring at me wide eyed willing me to continue.

"He took me to his pa-- um... to his territory." I almost smiled at my wording. However if I did it would look weird since I was talking about my kidnapper.

I wasn't afraid of him as long as Carter was with me though.

I directed my smile to Carter instead. "And Carter saved me."

First there was silence and only Carter smiled back at me.

Then my dad spoke up, "I don't understand. Who is this... Carter?" He looked over with distrust in his eyes.

"This is where the story gets... complicated."

Here goes nothing.

"I need to tell you something important," I looked my dad right in the eyes, then turned to look into my mom's, "something that is a huge factor to all that has been going on lately. I need you to trust me..." My voice trailed off.

Who was I kidding? This would not go well.

My mouth was left opened but no words came out. I couldn't describe the looks on my parents faces, they were just waiting for me to continue in anticipation.

"Hey it's okay," I heard Carter's voice from beside me, "you need to tell them."

I turned my head and saw his dark blue eyes watching me. If I looked close enough, I could see swirls of black mixing with the blue.

My dad coughed, not as to snap me out of my daze or anything of the sort, probably.

Then before I could say anything else my mom gasped.

I could basically see a light bulb going off above her head. She couldn't possible know what the heck I'm going to tell her.

"Oh my gosh," she exclaimed, suddenly hysterical, "Hayden Rose, are you pregnant?"

There was ringing in my ears. Had I heard her correctly?

Silence filled the room until I heard chuckling from beside me. I looked over to see amusement clear on Carter's face as he choked back his laughter.

"Mom, no!" I put my head in my hands.

"Then what is it?" My dad spoke up, desperate from the anticipation.

I waited for the blush to leave my face and then took a deep breath.

"Werewolves."
