Chapter 8

My eyes fluttered open and I was immediately filled with panic as I realized I was not in my familiar bedroom.

I slowly sat up on the bed I had been sleeping on and took in my surroundings.

I was in a smaller sized bedroom and everything looked too neat. The pale walls and ceiling added to the effect.

There was a closet to my left and a large dresser with a flat screen TV resting on it in front of me. I turned to my right and noticed the door that was half opened so I leaned forward to look out.

The first thing I saw was the living room. There were couches and an even bigger TV on the wall. The person sitting on the couch was what caught my attention.

"Cole?" My voice was dry and I cleared my throat.

He glanced up at me and stood up.

"Oh hey, your awake"

"Where am I?" Memories of this morning- or yesterday, I wasn't really sure when- came flooding into my head. Carter locking me in his SUV. Cole following closely behind in his.

Cole ignored my question and walked over to a table closer to my room.

"Where am I Cole?" I repeated, this time louder.

"In a hotel room. Are you hungry?"

I already pieced that information together- I was in a hotel. But where? How far away from home was I?

"No I am not hungry" I replied angrily.

My stomach seemed to disagree with me though, as it began to rumble at that exact instant.

Cole raised an eyebrow at me and took a plate of food into my room. He set it down in front of me after I refused to take it.

I was angry at him, and I was too stubborn to eat even if I was really hungry. The smell of the food didn't help though as I admired the assorted breakfast in front of me.

Bagels, pancakes, eggs, toast, bacon, it was like a mini breakfast buffet.

"Where's Carter?" I asked while Cole was still standing beside the bed.

Cole eyed me warily.

"He's taking care of some things before we leave, now eat."

I gave him my best glare.

"I'm not hungry." I pushed the plate of delicious food farther away for more effect.

Cole gave up and turned to go back to watching TV.

I took that chance to take a gulp of the apple juice on the tray and then quickly put it back.

I got up lazily and walked out to the living room. There was a kitchen and bathroom down the hall to the right. They were all high quality and I realized this hotel was very expensive. Carter and Cole must be pretty rich, with all their top model SUVs and everything else. What the heck did they do for a living?!

"So...." I stood behind the couch that Cole was sitting in.

I needed to talk to him and now. If Carter wouldn't give me any answers, then Cole would.

"Your kidnapping me" It came out more casual then I thought it would. I still couldn't actually process that. Cole and Carter wouldn't kidnap me. Why would they want me anyways? I knew I should probably be scared but I couldn't understand why they would kidnap me in the first place. I mean Carter was kind of scary but Cole? Although he did knock me out, I thought as I remembered blacking out and nothing else after.

When I snapped out of my over excessive thinking I noticed Cole was studying my face but not responding. Or maybe he did but I was just lost in my mind to hear anything.

"Why?" Was all I could think to ask.

"What?"

"Why did you kidnap me? I mean seriously what are you planning on doing anyway?" Maybe I could talk him out of this and maybe he'd let me go. Although I doubt Carter would agree. What was his problem anyway? Kissing me and getting me to trust him and then this? My anger was building up as I kept thinking.

"It's complicated." Cole said scrunching up his face.

I crossed my arms and willed him to continue.

"But Carter has to explain." He ended looking deep in thought.

"Why? You can't speak for yourself? You just go and let Carter boss you around and tell you what to do all the time!" I threw my hands in the air, frustrated.

"Why do you say that, I can do what I want!" Cole seemed to get offended from this. He was practically whining.

I hid my smirk. "Sure doesn't look like that. You follow him around like a lost puppy" I didn't know how true this was but whatever to get on his nerves.

He got up narrowing his eyes at me. "What did you just say?" He said slowly, glaring at me.

"You heard me" I spun around and walked off to my room again while slamming the door and locking it.

I took the big tray of breakfast and threw it into the nearest trashcan. I couldn't eat when I was upset, that was the last thing I felt like doing.

My eyes started to sting and I could feel tears building up. I squeezed my eyes tight and took a deep breath telling myself that I wasn't going to cry, I wasn't going to be weak.

I was going to escape from here. Whatever it took, I would make it through.
