So school started for me last week, *sigh*.

I don't know how my updates will be but I will try to get at least one chapter in per week- even if its a shorter one.

I know it sucks but so does waking up early and having to sit through boring classes all day, so I'm gonna suffer too haha.

Can't wait til next summer! -just saying...(:

Chapter 14

Waking up the next morning was strange.

Somehow last night Carter had brought me back to his house to sleep. It had been a long week and everything was too much for me, I didn't have it in me to argue with him.

Feeling his arm wrapped around my waist from where I was laying gave me a weird sensation of comfort. I blamed it on breaking down in front of him yesterday.

Although something nagged at me in the corner of my mind, but I couldn't pin point exactly what it was.

Sighing, I remembered what he had told and showed me. I hated myself for crying and being so vulnerable.

I could feel Carter stretch and sit up.

I didn't dare turn to face him, in fear of another tear session.

"How are you feeling?" He said calmly, knowing I was awake.

Staying where I was, I shrugged.

"It's okay if your scared, Hayden. Your more safe here than anywhere else."

"I find that hard to believe." I whispered for some reason.

I heard a sigh, and then him moving away.

I turned to see him get off the bed and run a hand through his hair.

"Where are you going?" I asked, hearing the worry in my voice.

"I'm taking a shower and then I have to go."

I watched him all the way to the bathroom door.

"Go where?" I asked, irritated that he had to go some where all the time. It sounded like he was trying to avoid me.

"The pack building. I'm already late. I have to get some stuff done, but I'll be back later."

He shut the door.

I turned to the clock, seeing that it was almost nine.

I waited around for a few minutes, until the silence started causing my mind to go into overdrive.

Sliding off the bed, I decided I might as well explore the room, since it was so big.

Going over to the couches and TV, I saw a huge cabinet filled to the top with movies. Crouching down, I began reading the labels.

Every kind of action/ thriller movie was in that cabinet, I thought while admiring them.

I got up, and walked over to a fancy fire place, beside the other couch. The colored stones where actually very pretty, lined up in a particular pattern.

I was actually getting used to all this fancy, expensive stuff.

After hearing the shower shut off I went to sit on the nearest couch, not wanting Carter to see me snooping around.

A few minutes later Carter opened the door came out, while looking like a model.

I gaped at him as he went to get a shirt and put it on.

His hair was still wet and it seemed like he left it that way on purpose.

His muscles and tan skin were enough to make me drool.

After watching him get some papers he finally turned to me.

Blushing, I looked back down feeling embarrassed he had realized I was watching him the whole time.

"I should be back later. Try to stay out of trouble." He said, ignoring me.

Just when I thought he was going to let me be alone, he spoke up again.

"Valerie will come to watch you."

I got off the couch. "Please don't have her come."

He was about to turn around when he stopped and looked at me.

"Why not?"

I wasn't sure if I wanted to repeat to him what she had told me, but remembering her words made me angry.

Saying that her and Carter thought pretty lowly of me was a nice way off putting it.

"I don't want her." I said unintentionally making a face.

"Why don't you like her, she's a great guard and she loves to help out."

Oh, is that what she told you?

"I don't need a babysitter!" I yelled, letting out some of my frustration. I sat back down and was surprised to see Carter come sit on the coffee table in front of me.

"Tell me why you don't like her." He demanded.

He was slightly leaning closer and I couldn't tell if he meant to get this close.

His face was hardly a foot away from mine and I tried to keep my breathing steady.

"Let's just say she's not a very good guard since she completely left last time."

Carter straightened up. "What?" His tone was full of surprise.

"How else do you think I ended up in the woods?" I said shaking my head at him.

"She left you!" He got up and clenched his jaw.

"She will be punished for this." He mumbled out as he started walking back to the door.

I rose my eyebrows at him. "What-"

"-Your getting new guards. Ill send them right away."

I noticed the plural on guards and decided not to ask.

"Why do I need guards anyway? I obviously can't get away." I crossed my arms, questioning him.

Carter of course ignored me and continued out the door.

"Valerie will get punished for this!" He said louder and slammed the door.
