We were on our way back to Carter's pack.

Well, our pack, as Carter would remind me.

My two suitcases were in the backseat, Carter was driving, and I was in the passenger seat.

I was looking out the window, not really paying attention to the buildings passing by, as I thought back to the last two weeks.

A lot had happened in those fourteen days.

I had went back to my house, Carter and I had told my parents basically everything, they had freaked out, they had calmed down, they had miraculously agreed to let me go back with Carter, I had spent one last week with my family, during which time we celebrated my eighteenth birthday, and now, we were going back.

To be completely honest, the pack didn't feel like home. To be completely honest again, my actual house didn't feel like home either. No matter where I went, as long as Carter was with me, I felt like I was in the right place. I blamed the incredibly dumb and cheesy feeling solely on the mate bond Carter had talked about.

I thought back to everything Carter had told me that night he had finally given me answers.

"As stupid as it sounds, every werewolf has a mate designed for them. Thanks to the higher power, there is another person out there in the world that is meant for us. It's--"

"Like your soul mate," I interrupted and he narrowed his eyes at my interruption.

"Basically your other half," he continued after I covered my mouth with my hand, urging him to continue.

"Alphas especially thrive on finding their mate. They need their other half to help them lead the pack. Lunas make the pack stronger as a whole," he rolled his eyes at my smug expression.

On the outside, I was just acting smug to mess with him. On the inside, however, I was freaking out at the responsibility I would have as Luna. It was intimidating.

I was a human, how could I help lead a pack of werewolves?

"Lunas provide a sense of comfort to the pack, they're empathetic, kind, and caring for the pack," he began, giving me a pointed look, like this is what your job is.

"I also lead the pack with you," I pointed out. I understood the Luna's responsibility of being the caring side for the pack. The Alpha, although he obviously cared for the pack, didn't always visibly show it in a motherly way the Luna would--

Wait. Why was I thinking like this? I was pulling this information out of nowhere. I had never lived in a pack before?

I shook my head, clearing my thoughts when Carter gave me a weird look.

"You help me lead the pack," he corrected me.

"I thought we were equals? Doesn't the Luna mean Alpha female?" I thought back to what Cole had told me the day I flew back to Michigan.

"We are," he muttered and quickly changed the subject, "Was that all your questions?"

I snorted. Not even close.
