It had been a week since I told my parents about werewolves.

Carter told me we had to wait for them to think over all of the information they had received before we talked about anything else.

I was definitely dreading the conversation about me going back to live with Carter in the pack.

I was going to miss my parents, so much. We were very close and it would be hard to be away from them. Besides the fact that they would be angry and if it weren't for me turning 18 in a month, they'd probably not let me go.

Carter even offered for them to join his pack, which I thought was both crazy and amazing.

Although I knew this whole process with telling my parents everything would be rough, it was ultimately better than lying to them.

In the end, I wanted to be with Carter, and he needed to be with his pack.

Today I had gone out shopping with my friend Jess. I hadn't seen her in forever and it was nice to do normal things for once. I tried avoiding as many questions as I could and she seemed to get the idea when I would change the subject away from me a lot.

While I was out shopping I didn't miss the guys Carter had sent to keep an eye on me. They were conveniently following Jess and I around the mall and I was glad that they kept their distance so Jess never noticed.

At first I put up a fight with Carter about having 'guards' as he had called them. I gave in when he reminded me we were close to Derek's pack so I could be in danger.

Carter had actually stayed at my house today while I was gone to talk to my parents. They had stayed home and were going to talk through things. Carter said he would basically try his best to explain the werewolf world to them, and slowly get to the mates part.

Although I was hesitant at letting him explain everything by himself, he had insisted that I go out with Jess and have fun.

I wouldn't have been able to help explain anyway, since I basically knew nothing about werewolves, especially mates. I was guaranteed that my parents would know more than me once I got home.

Saying my goodbyes to Jess had been hard, since I couldn't tell her anything that was happening with me. Little did she know this was the last time I would see her in a long time.

Carter said we could visit here when we could so I could see my friends and family, which made me feel a little better about leaving them behind.

It was late by the time I had gotten home, and as I entered the house my parents were waiting for me in the living room.

When I walked in Carter stopped whatever he was saying to them and they all looked at me.

While Carter gave me a small smile, my parents just stared. I couldn't gauge their reactions.

"Hey," I said walking into the room. My parents were sitting on one couch and Carter was on another one facing them. I stood on the side, not going too close to Carter, in the event that my parents would freak out with everything going on.

Carter frowned when he saw I didn't go to him but I ignored him.

"We've been talking a lot," my mom said as she smiled at me.
