Chapter 12

I'm shocked. Did Jackson just ask me to slow dance? He's looking at me for an answer.
"Yeah sure" I say back.
We go out onto the floor and our hands connect. Then he puts his hands on my shoulders. I move in a little closer so it's not as awkward. I stare into his eyes. And I get the feeling that he's staring into mine too. I snap out of my gaze and look to the right. I see Camryn and Cameron dancing together. A little off in the distance I see Tabby and Josh dancing very closely. Their foreheads connect as they dance perfectly. I look back to Jackson and continue to dance.
Tabby POV

Josh rests his forehead upon mine. In this moment I feel like a princess who has found her prince. I decide that it's my turn to make the next move. I put my hands on his hips and we rock back and forth to the music.
"Tabby you look so beautiful tonight." He says.
"Thanks" I blush.
Sydney POV

I'm with my friends when a mysterious guy comes up to me. He leads me away from my group of fiends but I'm somehow okay with it. He begins to slow dance with me. I don't speak. I don't want to ruin this moment. Whoever this guy is he clearly isn't afraid to make a move. Besides pulling me away from my friends, his face is so close to mine. He's wearing a mask so I cannot tell who this guy is. So I stare into his eyes. And he stares back into mine. Then I realize something. I've seen that pair of eyes before. They're the kind that you don't forget. I just can't name the person. I'm trying to look for something on his body that stands out; but nothing does. He's wearing a suit just like any other guy and his face is covered. Finally, my curiosity comes out.
"So..who are you?"
"Just a guy" he replies.
I've heard that voice before too. How can I not know who this person is?
"Why are you dancing with me? I don't know you" I say, hoping he'll tell me his name.
"Because why not dance with the most beautiful girl in school?"
I blush. Whoever this guy is he seems to know me somehow. My mind is asking a million questions. But no words leave my mouth, and I'm kinda glad. I think if I were to say any more, I would ruin the moment.
KENDALL POV
I begin to notice a change in Jackson. Ever since I started getting closer, he started getting farther apart. And I'm not just talking about dancing. We would always text each other before school and on the weekends, but he stopped replying. It's not just that; I went to his house too to see if he wanted to go to the park but he didn't answer. When I saw him in school he said he was 'busy with plans', and changed the subject immediately. He keeps drifting away farther and farther, and I don't know why. Perhaps Tabby can do a spell and tell me why.
"So what did you do last weekend?" I ask.
"I was busy with plans" he says.
"You said that 2 weeks ago"
"That's because I've just been busy with plans"
"What kind of plans?"
I know it's none of my business but my curiosity got the best of me, besides its not like he's doing anything that could get him killed. So why not share?
"Just stuff, I'm gonna go get some punch" he leaves, not even asking if I want any. Okay, what is up with him?
The slow song ends and I text tabby telling her to meet me in the bathroom. There are other girls in there so we have to keep it down.
"I need you to tell me why you can't read Jackson" I say
"What are you talking about?" She says.
"A while ago you said that you can't read him but you never told me why"
"Oh yea. It could be a number of reasons. Maybe he's a witch himself or someone put a spell on him and he just can't be read. Those are the only reasons I can think of"
Is Jackson a witch?
