Chapter 39

Kendall POV

My brother came home yesterday from the hospital and is recovering well. But Nicholas will be back, he said it himself. Only Taylor knows what he wants so I need to talk to him about it. Plus I think he's got this whole werewolf thing down. During full moons he chains himself downstairs in the basement and is controlling it quite well. As for me, I'm still getting used to it. Jack and I haven't talked since the hospital and it was about my brother, not about how vampires and werewolves are real. I know he technically didn't lie to me but I still wish he felt like he trusted me enough to tell me. I want to talk to him but at the same time I don't.

I walk into my brothers room and he's lying down in bed watching tv. I bring him his favorite lunch, Mac and cheese.

"I'm fine really," he says.

"But there's something I need to tell you" he looks worried. "Nicks alive." The words hurt like a bullet to the chest.

"So I know it may be hard to talk about but what did he say?" I decide not to ask how because he probably doesn't even know.

"You mean nick?" His eyes meeting mine. We're so close we can tell each other anything and we have, but this still feels weird.

"Well he said he's mad at Jackson saying he owed him a favor. Jackson wouldn't do what nick wanted him to do so he found me. He learned that Jackson was teaching me and saw we were friends so he came after me." He says. The way he said it is so sad, like he doesn't understand what is happening and neither do I. We both got thrown into this 'mythical creature' world and we're just trying to survive.

"Yeah but what did jack(Jackson) do that was so bad?" I pleadingly ask.

Taylor shrugs his shoulders. "But really I'm fine you don't need to play nurse with me. Go check on Jack, I saw the way you two look at each other." He laughs.

"We're just friends" I roll my eyes and walk out the room.

My phone buzzes with a text from jack.

J- hi
K- hi
J- got a sec?
K- ya
J-so I just wanted to say I'm sorry for what happened with your brother. Really I am so deeply sorry. It should have been me, I should have dealt with my own problems and now I dumped them on to you and your brother. I'm sorry.
K- what happened between you two that was so bad that he went after my brother?
J-I really don't wanna talk about it
K- jack we can't keep doing this. Not telling each other things. I'm in your world now weather you like it or not. I know about vampires and werewolves and I need to know more.
J- Kendall you aren't in my world. Our worlds are totally different, your a human and I'm a vampire. Your brother is a werewolf and yes I'm friends with him and I'm going to help him stay out of trouble but, I can't have you in it. This mess. It's too dangerous you could get seriously hurt or even die.
K- I'm already in it. Jack, my brother almost died I have the right to know. I need to know who and what to look out for. And no offense but your 'protection for my brother' isn't that great. Your my friend and he's my brother. I care about both of you and I need you guys to be protected. I can't help if I don't know what the hell is going on.
J-you're right I'm sorry. I can't tell you everything at once because it's all too much but I will teach you what you need to know in little pieces. I just can't see you get hurt. But over time you will know. But there's no going back once you know. Are you sure about this?
K-yes but don't worry about me. I'd be worrying more about your girlfriend haha I saw you guys walking together.
J-sorry I was going to tell you I'm seeing someone new. Her names Ariana you should meet her, I think you guys would be friends. And aren't you still dating that guy?
K-his names Kyle and no we broke up.
J-oh sorry I didn't know. Anyways I'm going to bed I'll see you in school.

I broke up with Kyle because he had feelings for someone else but he didn't cheat on me. He just told me and we both agreed to end it. And I think I'm starting to fall for jack.
