Chapter 28

Sydney POV

I'm in Mr.Oakleys room finishing a test that I was absent for. It's after school so I hear a bunch of people talking as they walk past his classroom. I bubble in my last answer and walk up to him to turn it in.

"Let's see how you did" he says, grading my paper.

He makes random marks all over my test but I'm not sure if they're good or bad.

"Well done" he says, holding up a paper with a '94' on it.

"That moves you up to an '86' in my class".

A huge smile goes across my face and then something happens. Something unexpected . He stands up and hugs me, out of excitement. Well we both hug each other. I think. He quickly realizes that it was wrong and comes out of the hug. Awkward silence.

I'm walking out of the school, because I walk home, and it starts pouring. Great. The one day I forget my umbrella at home. As I continue to walk, getting soaked, a car honks at me. I turn around and see Mr.Oakley in his car.

I walk up to his window. He rolls it down.

"Need a ride?"

"Kind of" I say jokingly.

I walk around and sit in the passenger side. The rainwater was freezing cold and the fact that his air is on blast, doesn't help.

I guess my teeth began to chatter because he turns down the air.

"Thanks for the lift" I say.

"Sure thing. Want me to drop you off at your house?"

I think about it for a second. I guess that would be okay.

"Yea thanks, just make a right up here. And then 2 lefts." I say.

"So did you enjoy 'hamlet'?" He asks me. We had to read it for his class.

"Yea it was really good. I loved the plot structure. How about you?"

"Yea it's definitely one of my favorites"

"It's the brown house right there." I say changing the subject. I didn't want to, but my house was right there.

"Alrighty. Enjoy your day Sydney." He says.

"Thanks for the ride."

We both gaze into each other's eyes for a minute before realizing the situation.

"Anytime." He says.

I walk up to my house and unlock the front door. I look back and see Mr.Oakley driving away in the distance.

Sorry guys I kind of have writers block so this chapter sucks. I'll try better next time.
