Percy opened his sea-green eyes, and seeing the beast's face in front of him, did the first thing he could think of. He punched it in the nose as hard as he could, making it leap back with a yelp of pain and surprise. As the wolf-like beast rubbed it's nose, Percy forced himself to stagger to his feet and managed to run a few steps before the pain overwhelmed him. Percy fell to his knees, unable to force himself back up. "Hey! Kid!" The beast growled at him. The demigod fell face-first in the dirt. The face of the concerned beast was what the half-blood seen when he was turned onto his back. Blinking, the broken hero asked, "What are you? Who are you?" The beast huffed in a amused way, and tilted his head slightly. "I wouldn't be able to tell you what I am exactly, but my name is Spike. I guess you can call me the Beast of Betrayal." The beast- no, Spike- barked, amused.
"What are you? Who are you?" Spike asked, his deep golden eyes staring knowingly into Percy's sea-green eyes. The demigod sighed, his once bright eyes becoming darker with pain and heart break. "I'm a broken, betrayed, parent-less demigod- Poseidon disowned me. My name is Percy Jackson." Percy muttered. "Disowned, hmm? Well, no kid should go without a parent. Will you be my son, my heir?" The carefree beast purred. Percy considered. "Well, there's nothing to lose, is there? Why not? Sure, I'll be your son and heir." He decided. Almost instantly did Spike relax. "Well, that's good 'cause I already bit you which made you my heir because you survived, so yeah." The golden-eyed beast panted. "WH-?!" Percy began to yell, but Spike covered his mouth with one of his large paws.
"Nobody knows what lies in these woods- we're not too far away from Camp Half-Blood!" Spike hissed quietly at him, listening to the almost silent air. "Let's go!" Both growled. Spike gave him a look, as if saying, "Come on!". Percy forced himself to his feet, clutching Spike for support as he staggered a few steps forward. "I can't!" The demigod panted, leaning heavily against Spike. The beast snorted, then, gripping Percy's tattered shirt in it's strong jaws, tossed the demigod onto his back. Percy landed on Spike's back with a soft, almost silent "Oof!" as the air was knocked out of him. The beast turned his head and growled to Percy: "Hold on!". The betrayed hero's sea-green eyes widened, and he grabbed some of the beast's soft, ragged fur and held it tightly as the Beast of Betrayal reared and let loose a silent roar before running as fast as lightning towards Alaska.
"Just... thought.... that... you would...... like to.... know that.... I'm.... part cat!" Spike panted to Percy. The demigod's eyes widened, before snapping shut because of the wind and at the speed that they were going. "WAIT-WHAT?!" He yelled as loud as he could, stunned. Spike roared with laughter as his now muddy paws raced through another state, almost reaching Canada by now. "DAM (Get it?), YOU'RE FASTER THAN HAZEL'S CUSSING HORSE!" Percy screamed as they reached Alaska in 30 more minutes. The second they reached some woods far from humans, Spike stopped running so fast that Percy was ripped from Spike's fur and hurled at a tree. "OW!" He complained, rubbing his face. "Ha! That's what you get for punching my nose, Tree-Kisser!" Spike leaned back and howled with laughter. Percy pouted and crossed his arms like a stubborn 3-year-old, which only made Spike laugh harder, rolling on the ground by now.
Percy flicked him off, still pouting but with the hint of a goofy grin. Spike stopped laughing and gave Percy such a hurt look that he burst into laughter, making the Beast of Betrayal give him an insulted look, pouting. "You're mean!" Spike pouted, looking like a 3-year-old. "I'm sorry!" Percy replied, wiping a tear of laughter away, glancing at Spike's sad puppy-dog eyes. Spike tilted his head, and asked, "Why did you let the beast that bit you adopt you and bring you to Alaska and hurl you at a tree?" Percy huffed, slightly annoyed. "Well, I had nothing to lose, and I DID NOT allow you to throw me at a freaking tree!" The demigod answered in an indignant tone. The beast tilted his (Spike is a male, by the way) head and winked at Percy. "Sure...." He purred.
