Chapter 43: The Camper's Battle, And A Confession, Part One

Omega's POV

I leaned against a dead tree, exhausted. That fight took a lot, mentally and physically. Though Spike was right next to me, I could feel the gaping wound bigger than an ocean between us. The silence between us was broken only with the sounds of the camper's battle. I'd still trust Spike with my life even without the trust, but.... I shook it off and simply watched the battle. I could sense my team's anguish at being unable to protect their family and friends, and a stab of guilt made me reconsider my choice.

I focused more closely on the battle, blocking off the howls of anguish and desperate begging of my team. I focused on Jack, who kept hiding behind other campers and waving his sword at a few monsters and occasionally managing to "kill" one by pure chance. I was disgusted. My rage grew when I saw Annab*tch run over and kiss him deeply. I gagged. Wow. She kisses a coward in a battle. And apparently I'm the cowardly weakling. I felt my fatal flaw rage at how they could betray me for a bratty liar.

The storm reacted to my disgust and rage, and lightning crackled against the sky one last time before it turned into a hurricane. I quickly cut off my connection to the raging hurricane, but it still grew in it's category and deadliness. I gazed at it curiously. It was out of my control by now, too strong for me in a weakened state to stop it. The winds began to howl as the hurricane became greater than the worst hurricane to ever strike. The campers and monsters paused as they stared at the hurricane in horror before searching for shelter.

Spike got up and poked me, trying to get me to get up too. But I couldn't tear my gaze from the hurricane. How did it do that by itself? Finally, Spike picked me up and flew over to his mountain. That snapped me out of it. What? Spike didn't let anyone, not even Chaos, on his mountain. "I, Spike Revenge, give Omega, AKA Percy Jackson, permission to enter my mountain!" Spike howled, and my eyes widened in shock. Lightning from the mountain struck me so fiercely and completely charged, more painful than any other bolt.

I landed on my left arm so hard that it broke, and I writhed in agony before the pain stopped. My eyes closed as Spike's memories began to flood through me, so quickly that I could only feel the pain, but not remember the memory. Next thing I know, I'm in a unknown place. "This is the inside of my mountain." Spike sighs. I look at him, astonished. I sighed. "Since you allowed me in, gave me a brief glance at your memories, I- I'll give you one of my deepest secrets. My only secret with you, anyways."

Spike gave me a curious, suspicious look. I gazed at him sadly, and took a deep breath. "I had scars before I even knew I was a demigod." I said quietly. I instantly knew that I had Spike's attention. "What do you mean?" Spike growled sharply, and I looked anywhere but at Spike. But I could feel his intense golden eyes burning almost angrily into me, demanding an answer. Finally, I cave in. My shoulders slump and I stare at Spike's paws, sighing.

"Well... U-ummm.... I'll just show you..." I sigh, reaching out and gripping Spike's right paw. I cut off the mind link with any other team members but Spike. And I send the memories, the ones that only I knew and remembered. And I pull Spike into the past. My past.

Spike's POV

I'm pulled Percy's past, and the horrors of what he went through makes him more like me than I'd like....

PERCY'S PAST

A small four year old slowly opens the door to a filthy apartment, with beer bottles, cigarette butts, and glass shards scattered all over the place. The stench is awful. The raven-haired little boy looks around fearfully with terrified sea green eyes. The four year old Percy sighs with relief when he sees no one. Percy steps in and carefully closes the door. Suddenly, a walrus-like man with three hairs combed over his head stumbles out from a door in the apartment, obviously drunk.

Almost instantly does Percy cower against the door, eyes wide. "Smelly Gabe." Percy whimpers. Before Percy could run outside, the walrus of a man grabs Percy's collar and yanks him back before he could open the door. "Smelly Gabe" slams Percy against the floor and smashes a half full beer bottle on the little boy. The walrus-man covers Percy's mouth with a sweaty, meaty hand and muffles Percy's screams of pain and terror.

The little boy- Percy- is savagely beaten, but his face isn't touched. Even in his mostly drunk state, Gabe knows to not make the signs of abuse obvious. "Say a worrd to yourr motherr or anyone abou thisss and thisss will happen to her instead of you..." Gabe slurred. Percy nodded, tears of pain in his eyes. "Justt to make this clear..." Gabe said drunkenly, and grabbed a knife. Gabe ripped off Percy's already ripped, bloody, beer covered shirt, and slashed him several times deeply with the knife.

Next, Gabe slid the knife along Percy's jaw and throat, deep enough to scar, but just not noticeable unless someone was specifically looking for it. Gabe shoved Percy away. "Clean yourself up and clean this mess up..." Gabe ordered, looking cross eyed. Percy obeyed, and Gabe kicked him several times to make him hurry up.

PERCY'S PAST FLASH BACK THINGY END

I was disgusted by "Smelly Gabe". I gazed at Percy closely, and saw that very same scar along his jaw and throat. It's thin and pale, unnoticeable. And I knew that unless I knew that it was there, I would've never noticed it. "You grew up quicker than I thought. You never had a childhood." I said sadly, seeing tears running down Omega/Percy's face. I wrapped him in a hug as he broke down. And I swore that I'd try my best to protect Percy/Omega, whether he liked it or not.
