I was sitting by the camp's fire. The place where I used to sacrifice pizza to my ex-father. My arms were wrapped around my legs that were pulled up close against my body. My head was resting on my knees. I was blinking back tears. I had shed enough over this camp. It was midnight, but I kept them at bay. Why does the memories still hurt? Why do they continue to tear at my sanity? Keep it together. People need you. This entire planet needs me. I furiously wiped away a stray tear tracing a path down my cheek.
GET A GRIP! I screamed at myself mentally, and let hope rekindle inside of me. Hope that none of my team would die, hope that lives wouldn't be lost... and hope that I could be forgiven. Then I sensed a presence next to me. I glanced to the left, and found Hestia. She gave me a sad smile and began tending the slightly bigger flame that was slowly growing. "Your new hope kept me from fading." She whispered, her featured etched with sadness and relief. I instantly hugged her, needing a mother figure ever since my mother's death, along with Paul and my baby sister.
I cried into Hestia's shoulder, and felt her cry into mine. I guess that both of us really needed to have someone to lean on. I felt her hug me back, and it felt like years when we finally pulled away from each other. Both of our shirts were soaked. We wiped our tears away, giving each other grateful looks. "Will you be my first champion?" Hestia whispered. I nodded, and Hestia wrapped me into another hug, this one warmer. I smiled, a happy one as warmth filled me. I felt a slight burn on the side of my neck.
Hestia finally pulled away. "You can now teleport with fire, fire doesn't effect you, you can make temporary fire swords, and you can summon homemade meals." Hestia said, already becoming her old self. I smiled at her gratefully, and muttered "Thanks", not quite sure how to fully express my gratitude. "Some things never change." Hestia chuckled before giving me another hug and flashing away. I smiled and Fire Traveled into my room.
I took a shower and changed. But I stopped in front of the mirror when I noticed that something changed. On the side of my neck was a small tattoo of a multi-color fire with a small 8 year old tending to it, and in reddish orange were the words: Hestia's First Champion. That's going to be a bit hard to hide. Storm teased happily, and I knew that he still felt the motherly love, the feeling of being safe. Then I stared at my eyes. Specks of reddish orange joined the golden specks, and a circle of reddish orange was just barely touching the gold ring surrounding my cold sea green eyes.
Then I dropped my facade. Cracks were revealed in my sad, grayish sea green eyes. I noticed that some of the cracks had disappeared, leaving something that looked somewhat like scars in the glass. I gave my reflection a twisted, fake smile that helped the cracks and broken look in my eyes less noticeable. Well... Becoming Hestia's First Champion wasn't exactly on my bucket list... But YOLO! I told Storm, trying to joke. I couldn't tear my eyes from- well, my eyes.
Then I made some contacts that made my eyes look like that nothing changed. The way that they looked like when I entered the camp. It took me all night to make them because I made sure that only I could remove them and that they can show my emotions unless I hide my emotions. In other words, made my eyes look ever since I met Spike. Storm temporarily took control of my body and strutted in front of the mirror. "Not bad. Not bad at all." Storm purred. When he used my voice, it sounded deeper. More like a growl.
I then looked for something to hide the beautiful tattoo. No one but me, Storm, Hestia, and Spike can know that I became stronger. Then I put on a black leather jacket with a hood, making sure that it hid my neck. I also wore a plain gray shirt, and black skinny jeans that were slightly ripped. I put on some black Converse shoes. "Obviously not bad looking bad at all. We are amazing. No one can bring us down." Storm and I snarled lowly at the same time.
"Time to make sure that they know that we're back, better and stronger than ever, and obviously don't need nor want them. To show them that they made a big mistake."Storm snarled. I agreed. After making sure that my scars were hidden, that the signs of Hestia's blessing/ turning me into her champion, I threw my cloak over my shoulder, and stormed out of the Chaos Cabin. I made sure that Storm's presence wasn't known before stalking to the arena. I smirked just outside the entrance. Time to make sure that they're training. I threw the doors open.
