Chapter 3

It's been a week since my date with Jason, he hasn't passed by the coffee shop since then and to top it all Sally was not speaking to me. It has been four days since our last conversation. I really do not know how long she was planning to keep this up.

So the morning after Jason dropped me at home, I sneaked into the apartment and silently went up to my room ,knowing Sally has the day off at the coffee shop and she usually likes to sleep in on her off days. So I went upstairs, changed into some fresh clothes, and sneaked out again on my way to work. I know I will have to deal with her soon but right now, I need to process everything that has happened with Jason. I can face Sally tomorrow; hopefully she will be out by the time I get home tonight.

"Maggs you're wanted at table fourteen" one of the other waiters called me. My section is empty which is why I took the time to sit in the kitchen and sort out my slips before the lunch hour rush starts.

"Megan that's not my section, that's Paul's. Where is Paul? He is always taking advantage when the shop is empty to go and spend hours out back" I huff.

"Well this guy asked for you" Megan replies. I walked out to the front of the shop wondering who in the world would ask for me and I stopped dead in my tracks. Shoot, I have not seen that face in a long time; I hope he doesn't stir any trouble because trouble always follows him wherever he goes. I did my part and left him with nothing to worry about. I made a new life here. I hope he does not cause me any trouble. I really can't afford to loose all I have worked for the last few years.

This man sees me approach and I swear he is the brother of a Cheshire cat with that smile on his face.

"John, what do you want? How did you find me?" I almost whisper shout at him.

"John? Did you forget your manners girl? Come and give your poor daddy a hug"

"Daddy. You're no daddy of mine, a daddy is supposed to love and protect his daughter; you left me to fend for myself. I had to figure things out on my own. I had to support myself after mum died. So don't you dare call yourself my daddy! Did you get that? Moreover, if you are not going to order anything I suggest you get out or I'll have to call the police. I can still have you arrested for what you did to me I have the scar to prove it, and you know I do." I angrily vent at him

"Aah now Maggs don't be like that with your old dad. I've come to apologize and ask your forgiveness Magg's" he says while examining his ginger nails as if he needed a manicure.

"You apologize? Never will I forgive you! You took the last bit that meant the world to me and you killed it, so please leave". I searched the table looking for something to throw at this poor excuse of a father.

And suddenly it dawned on Maggs that she didn't have the strength to continue with this day. She doesn't know where all that strength came from to deal with John, after all these years she never thought that this is how she would react to seeing him again.

Maggs ran out of the shop without taking a second glance back at John. She needed to leave and get away from that man. She ran and ran until her legs could carry her no more and before she knew it, she fell to the ground, tears cascading down her face. The aftermath of what just happened broke her to pieces; it took so many years for her to get her emotions in order after all that happened.

Maggie doesn't know how long she sat on the ground crying till eventually all that were left were dry heaves that racked her body .She was numb, she had no strength to get up and walk back to the coffee shop, its probably been hours ,she left her bag with her cell phone in it behind at the store. 'I hope still have a job to get back to' Maggie thought to herself; the next few seconds she heard a car pull up beside her but her vision was still too blurry too see into the distance. She heard Sally screaming while running towards her, "oh my words Maggs are you okay? Jase and I have been looking everywhere for you". She cries.
