Chapter 14
Maggie decided that it was best for her to rather get a hotel then stay the night at Adams. She sent Sally a sms to say that she'd be home soon. Maggie called a cab which dropped her off at the hotel. She had one more thing to take care of before she went back to Cape Town. The next morning Maggie woke to her alarm screaming bloody murder.
"Urrggggg shut up please" Maggie groaned, rolling over in bed. Within seconds last night came flashing back to her. Maggie sat up in bed going through the conversation she and Adam somehow it felt refreshing to know that that part of her life is over, finito, done. She got up and ran herself a bath instead of a shower, she wanted to soak in the tub and enjoy the first day of her new love life, even though she had three hours sleep and should have felt terrible she felt revitalized.
It was time to go home, Home to Cape Town. Home to Sally and Jason the two people who she now knew would be there regardless and for that she suddenly felt grateful that what transpired in her life even though it was a painful experience, knowing I had people like them in my life made it worth it. But before I leave there was one more thing I had to take care of. I better hurry if I want to catch my flight on time. With that Maggie checked out of the hotel and headed to catch a cab.
"Hi mum I know it's been a long while but I hope you understand my reasons for not visiting sooner. I miss you so much, so much has happened. Sally has been real good to me mum. Adam and I are no more as you probably know; we haven't been for a long while, some how something kept me attached to him. I came to say goodbye mum. I hope that where ever you are you will always know that I love you with all my heart. I wish I could hold you just one more time."
Sniffling Maggie left the graveyard. But this time she felt at peace. Peace with her old life and at peace with her past. Looking back she smiled feeling excitement bubbling up within her.
Maggie reached the airport just in time to board her flight back home to Cape Town. Thank god for savings. At least she didn't have to pay the taxi when they came up to Johannesburg. Francis took care of that and there was no way she was going to be spending eighteen hours on a bus. So yeah dipping into savings this early wasn't ideal but what the heck, it was an emergency right?
Two hours later Maggie stepped of the tarmac at Cape Town international airport and was greeted by a very tight lipped Sally. It wouldn't be long until she gave up .she was a sucker for information and all I had to do was avoid the topic and barely act as if anything happened that would just drive her insane.
"Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, and two ..." Maggie was mentally counting the seconds until sally exploded "really Maggie you just going to act as if nothing happened?" she snapped.
"Missed you too Sal. Of course I was going to tell you everything that happened; I just wanted to see how long you were going to last if I said nothing, and of course you barely lasted". Maggie was full on laughing now while Sally just stood there staring at her like she has two heads.
"Maggie what happened. I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but why the sudden happiness. Please tell me Adam doesn't have anything to do with this."
"Why would you say that Sal of course he has? I mean hence the reason I went to Johannesburg in the first place." Maggie laughed inside about how coy she was being with Sally.
"You mean to tell me you taking the fucker back in your life after all the shit he put you through. Damn you're dumber than I thought. What the fudge Maggie."
