CHAPTER 4

It's been three days since Jason and I agreed that he would provide security protection for me while I get myself together. I've been lounging around mostly doing nothing to say I was bored was an understatement. I left the room which was temporarily mine in search of the house. I think Jason probably left for work today. he has been working from home these past few days but must have gone into office today. I walk down the passage exploring. Here should be a library usually these mansions have those things.

I finally locate it on the ground floor. I open the door and I am startled. there sits Jason behind a dark mahogany desk, Hunched over his laptop. "Err sorry I didn't know you'd be here. I was looking around trying to find something to do. Maybe get a book from your library; I need something to distract me my mind keeps wondering about what happened." Jason lifts his hand up and only then I realized I have been blabbering all this time and my cheeks flush crimson pink.

"Come inside Maggs of course you need something to do. If you don't mind you could help me with my work. I know you're good with numbers. I heard from Sally, don't worry I haven't been creeping around your personal files" said Jason playfully.

"Er okay. Um what do need to be done" I strut over to where Jason was seated.

"These quarterly reports need to be checked, the companies budget has to be fixed before the auditors get in on Monday and just basic accounting stuff." He hands me a stack of files and motions for me to have a seat at his desk and I look at him like his crazy. "I could do with a break on the sofa I don't mind I have been stuck behind that desk for....." (he looks at wrist) since four this morning and its now eleven am, I could relax on the sofa to stretch my back."

"Okay have you eaten anything since supper last night? I assume if you're her since four am then you probably haven't even had breakfast I will get you something to eat before I do those for you." I walk out the library and walk towards the kitchen.

That's the most conversation I have had with Jason since I have been brought to his house three weeks ago. It's still a bit nerve wrecking being here, but for some reason I feel relaxed around him. I locate some goodies and whip up a sandwich. I am not sure what Jason likes. But I hope a slice if simple pastrami is okay. I finish making the sandwich, wipe the counters and head back towards the library.

I give Jason the sandwich and he bites into it moaning about how good it is. I walk towards the desk rolling my eyes .how could a simple sandwich taste so good. He is just exaggerating. I sit down at the desk and get started on the files.

(Meanwhile)

"Adam baby come back to bed" Samantha moans. But the last thing I want to do is pretend to make love to her like I have for the past couple of years. She doesn't even want kids, scared of damaging her perfect body she complains. I hoped at least she would have provided me with an heir to the throne by now. Why did I even listen to my parents? They wanted to unite our families to make sure the money stays between us.

I still can't get Maggie out of my mind. I can't believe I gave her up for money. Damn I was so stupid. I just hope that John can get through to her soon. I'm mentally exhausted having to pretend that I love Sam. I hope John is gentle and doesn't scar her any more. He has got to stick to our plan and soften her up. If she forgives him she will definitely forgive me....

(Present)

It's been a couple of hours since I've looked up from these files. I haven't even noticed that Jason has fallen asleep. I stretch and yawn walking over to Jason .I look around trying to find a throw, which I eventually locate on the far side of the room. I cover him and leave the desk light on.
