Chapter 36

Maggie's buzz still continued for the whole week following her mini holiday she and sally had, but soon after everything faded back to normal again, she didn't hear from Adam and honestly she felt relieved that he didn't contact her, making things easier for her to decide between leaving Jason and staying.

Winter flew by and spring just arrived but Maggie was in no mood to be celebrating spring flowers and chirping birds in the trees.

Work was a headache and home was not any better. Maggie's till felt torn between letting go and staying to take care of Jason. It was becoming more evident day by day that the love she once felt for Jason was difficult to keep alive.

It was starting to feel more like a chore than love. In the mornings she'd pop by to switch on the television and open the blinds allowing sunlight into the room. She would then check if his feeding tube has been removed after he had breakfast and if not she had to detach the tube from his tummy as to not cause infection.

Because he could not chew his food doctor made a little hole in his tummy and added a catheter to which they would attach the tube and then feed him his nutrient shake.

The nurse and Abela took care if most of Jason's necessities making Maggie feel even more useless around Jason.

Where am I? Why can't I move? It's so dark. My head, it hurts, everything hurts. (Yawn) I'm still feeling a little tired though, maybe I should just try and sleep a bit more, but first I want to see Maggie.

"Maggie" Jason called but no one answered.

That's weird Jason thought. He was sure he was calling loud enough but then how come he didn't hear himself shouting.

"Maggie" he called a second, third and forth time. By then he was in hysterics. It's when he finally calmed down a bit he slowly remembered the accident, the car coming out of no where, hitting him hard; the flashing lights; people talking. He being carried somewhere. A white room people talking as if they shouting orders at one another. The metallic smell of blood and then it all went blank. How long was he asleep he wondered?

Exhausted and frantic his body took to slumber again. Fighting the sleep was getting him no where. I'll sleep for just a bit he thought then I'm going to find out what happened and hopefully see my love.

Two days later Jason awoke again, but still could not open his eyes. His body still felt as it was nailed to the bed. His limbs refused to move on his command.

He tried staying calm but honestly who could when you felt trapped in you own body. After taking deep slow breathes he then slowly tried to listen, he couldn't tell if his hearing was working but he thought he would give it one more shot and tried to listen with more concentration this time.

Try Jason he told himself, 'try harder than you ever have"

He could hear voices, it sounded like people were talking, but it didn't sound like they were normal conversation. Their voices sounded familiar though, he thought. He listened more intently this time.

That's it, that's it...I got it. It's the sound of urkel. Steve urkel. Okay good at least I can hear he told himself. It's not a great start but it's a start never the less. If I'm hearing that it must be the television is on. Only question now is am I in hospital or am I in a house somewhere. I sure do hope it's my house. He thought to himself suddenly feeling proud that even in his current state nothing was going to get him down.
