Chapter 4

                   

Monday, May 20th

Around 1:30am Meryl and Maks woke up to crying. It was coming from the monitor.

"Adalyn" Maks says. "I'll go check on her."

"Take my phone and play the CD if you need to."

Maks grabs her phone and went into Adalyn's room which is right next to theirs. He left her light off and made his way over to the bed.

"It's ok Adalyn. I'm right here. You're ok. You're safe" he said as he sat down on her bed. She crawled over and climbed into his lap still crying. "Shh, you're alright. I've got you. Dad... I've got you sweet girl. Her crying starts to calm as he rocks her.

Meryl could hear what he was saying through the monitor. She has tears flowing down her face as well. He had almost told her he is her Dad.

"Adalyn, how about you lay down and I'll rub your back. I'll put the music on for you."

Adalyn climbs down off his lap and lays down on her belly. Maks starts the music and rubs her back. After 2 songs, she is asleep again. He turns the music off, kisses her forehead and goes back to his room. Meryl is asleep when he climbs back into bed.

Meryl heard crying again. She looked at the clock. It is 3am. Maks is still asleep so she went into Adalyn's room to see what was wrong. She comforted Adalyn just as Maks had. She tried to get Adalyn to lie back down but she wouldn't let go of Meryl.

"How about we go lay down in mine and Maks' bed? You can sleep with us for the rest of the night."

Adalyn nods her head and Meryl carries her into her room and lays Adalyn on the bed. Meryl climbs in next to Adalyn. Adalyn curls up into Meryl's side and they both fall asleep rather quickly.

Maks wakes up to Meryl jumping out of bed for her morning sickness. He decided to go check to see if Adalyn is awake. He was about to get up when he felt movement in the bed. He thought Meryl had gotten up. He sat up and looked over at Meryl's side of the bed and say Adalyn laying in Meryl's spot. She was still asleep so he went to check on Meryl. He knocks on the door.

"Come in."

"Are you alright?" Maks asks as he walks in.

"Yea...I'm so glad I'm not like Tanith and I only have morning sickness and not all day sickness."

"Oh baby" he says and smiles weakly at her. "So when did Adalyn join is last night?"

"She woke up crying again around 3am. I tried to calm her just like you did and get her to lay down but she wouldn't let go so I just let her come sleep with us."

"Ok. Why didn't you wake me?"

"You were so cute asleep and you had taken the first shift wake up so I did it that time."

"I love you."

"I love you too. Now go back out there incase she wakes up and gets scared. Make sure she uses the bathroom when she gets up."

"Ok... You rock, you know that right?"

"Yes" she jokes. "Now go" she says with sassiness.

Maks goes back into the bedroom and sits on the bed wait for Adalyn to wake up. He was on social media on his phone when Adalyn woke up. She sat up at looks at Maks.

"Good morning Adalyn."

"Good morning."

"How about we go potty and then go start some breakfast?"
