Chapter 5

Monday, May 20th

Maks got out of the car, helped Meryl out and then got the still sleeping Adalyn out of her car seat. He held her and put her head on his shoulder. Maks grabbed Meryl's hand with his free hand.

"I like this" Maks says. "All of my loves in my arms right now."

"I love you."

I love you more."

Adalyn stirred in Maks' arm as they walked into the store. She took her head off of his shoulder and looks him in the eyes.

"Good morning sweet girl. Dobroye utro milaya devushka."

Adalyn smiled at him. She hugged him and then he placed her in the shopping cart.

"Are you ready to go shopping? You're going to help us pick some special things for you."

"Toys?" Adalyn's face lit up with excitement.

"Maybe you can pick out one igrushka. I have a feeling you will be getting a lot of toys and clothes soon. Where to first Mer... I mean Mama?"

"Let's go to the beauty section first. We can pick out a toothbrush and toothpaste and things like that."

"Alright devochki, girls, let's go shopping."

They went to the toothbrushes first. Boy there sure are a lit of options. Good thing they are letting Adalyn pick.

"Alright Adalyn, pick one you like" Meryl says.

Meryl and Maks watched on as their sweet girl looked over all of the choices. Maks pulled Meryl to his side and she smiled up at him.

"This one" Adalyn says pointing to a toothbrush that has all of the Disney Princesses on it.

"Good choice milaya devushka" Maks says.

"Very good choice. I love it. I love princesses. Let's go get you some toothpaste."

Meryl pushed the cart down the aisle some more so they were in front of the toothpaste. To no surprise, Adalyn picked out the matching Princess toothpaste. They moved on to the hair aisle. Meryl picked out some hair spray. She figured they would need it to help brush through Adalyn's hair. Together, Meryl and Adalyn looked through the hair brushes and combs. They picked up matching purple ones. As they were going up the aisle to head to the next aisle, Meryl saw cute clips and headbands. She picked a bunch out as well as some hair ties.

"Where to next?" Maks asked as Meryl put all the hair things in the cart.

"Let's go to the baby supplies. We need a bunch of things from there."

"Off we go." Maks pushed the cart and watches as Adalyn plays with some of the headbands. He looked over at Meryl who was walking with her hands on her small bump and a smile on her face. All he could think about was how blessed he is.

"Maks, down this one." It was the aisle with the strollers. They had decided to get a small one for the days when they would have to be out all day. They found one with Minnie Mouse on it. It was pink and they all loved it. They loaded the stroller into the cart and moved onto the next aisle. They picked out another car seat. It was pick with different color circles all over it. They put it in the cart. Adalyn was now getting squished.

"I think we might need a new cart" Maks says as he lifts Adalyn out of the cart and onto his shoulders. "We'll pick up another one later if we need it."

Next they picked up the booster seat for the dinner table. What Maks couldn't see but Meryl could as they walked towards the toy storage containers aisle, was Adalyn's big smile. It made Meryl so happy to see Maks and Adalyn, Papa and daughter so happy. They picked out storage boxes. Some were white and black chevron and some were pink.
