Chapter 8

Tuesday May 21

Meryl woke up feeling stiff. It takes her a minute to realize she is curled up into Maks still. She sits up and his arm falls off of her. He was asleep, as well as Adalyn. She decides to go start Maks and her clothes in the wash. She needs to make sure that they have all that they need for their trip. She is sure glad Maks is asleep because he would never let her carry the laundry if he was awake. She is perfectly fine to carry the laundry but he said she shouldn't. She grabbed the baskets and starts a load.

She then grabs her phone and iPad and sat on the chair in the living room. She makes a not on her iPad of a list of things they are going to need to pack for their trip. When she feels like she has everything, she starts to read the book she downloaded on pregnancy and infants. Meryl likes to learn all she can about things that are important to her and this is definitely something that is important.

Meryl saw movement out of the corner of her eye. She turns and sees that Adalyn is awake. Well at least her eyes are open. She doesn't seem like she is ready to get up yet. Meryl turns her attention back to her iPad. After a few more minutes, she sees movement again.

"Hi Mama."

"Hi milaya devushka. Did you have a good nap?" Adalyn comes over and sits in Meryl's lap.

"Da. Papa is asleep."

"I was too but I woke up before you did. Do you want to make cookies with me?"

"Yes!" Adalyn's eyes went wide and she has a huge smile on her face. "I love cookies."

"Oh good. Go potty and wash your hands really well."

"Can I take my pull-up off?"

"Yes of course."

Adalyn rushes off to her bathroom. While she is up there, Meryl gets the ingredients for the cookies out and ready to go. When Adalyn comes down, Meryl lifts her onto a bar stool. They work together to make the batter. Adalyn ends up with ingredients all over her arms and face. Meryl puts the cookies in the oven and then cleans Adalyn off. She puts Adalyn down and Adalyn goes off to play in her room for a little while. Meryl decides to wake up Maks. They have to Skype his parents soon. She goes over to him and sees he is already awake.

"You're awake? How long have you been awake?"

"I woke up while you were adding the eggs I believe."

"That long?! Why didn't you join us?"

"You two were bonding and it was cute."

"But we could have bonded together, the three of us."

"We have done a lot of that and we have a lot of time to do more. We both need to have individual time with her to bond with her."

"I guess you're right, teddy bear."

"I know I am Princess" he jokes and gives her a kiss. He goes to pull away but she pulls him closer. Maks was shocked at first but happily went along with it. They made their way back to kitchen to clean up after kissing for a little longer. While cleaning, Meryl turns to face him and then snakes her arms around his neck. Maks lifts Meryl up and puts her on the counter. She pulls him close and slides her hands under his shirt. His hands go to her hips. Their tongues fought for dominance. They would have gone further but the timer went off.

"Mhmm, Maks." He pulls himself impossibly closer. "Maks" Meryl says pulling away. "I have to get the cookies out so they don't burn. I really want some cookies" Meryl says jumping off of the counter. "I'm pretty sure Adalyn will be very mad if the cookies are burnt and she doesn't get to have any. I know I will. We both love cookies." Meryl takes the cookies out of the oven and places them on top of the stove. She turns the oven off and turns back to Maks.
