Chapter 11

Friday May 24

Everyone is back from the park. It is now Adalyn's nap time but she doesn't want to go nap. She is playing with her Uncle Clay as she has taken to calling hi. Meryl and Maks were toying with the idea of letting them keep playing or having them stop so she can go nap. They decided to let her play a little bit longer. Maks was checking emails and Meryl is reading while cuddling on the couch.

"She is down for the count you guys." Clayton puts down the toys they were playing with.

"Oh wow" Meryl says looking up from her book.

"She was laying down playing and then fell asleep mid sentence. Do you want me to bring her up to bed?"

"That'd be great. Thanks Clay" Maks says barely looking up from his emails.

"No problem" Clayton says picking Adalyn up off the ground and carries her up. He comes back down and sits down on the chair. "I think she likes me."

"Oh she definitely does" Meryl says putting her book down. "She seems so happy and comfortable around you."

"I am a pretty like-able guy so I'm not too surprised" Clayton sarcastically says.

"Oh you are so right" she jokes back.

"So when are you guys going to see Charlie and Tanith?"

"We are going to their house tomorrow" Meryl says and then was hit was a yawn.

"Fun. How is Tanith feeling?"

"She said she has had all day sickness instead of morning sickness like me."

"Oh that stinks."

"It..." Meryl was hit by another yawn. "It does."

"Princess, take a nap. It's been a long morning and you are tired. I'll keep Clay company."

"But..." she was hit with another yawn.

"No Meryl. It's fine. Take a nap. I was going to head out anyway. I want to go visit some old friends anyway."

"Alright" Meryl says with a sigh. "Have fun. See you later tonight."

"Love you both" Clayton says while standing up to go/

"We love you too Clay" Maks says for Meryl who is yawning yet again. She puts her book down on the coffee table and lays down with her head in Maks' lap. His hand goes automatically to her hair and starts to play with it. She is asleep within a minute. Clayton comes back downstairs after grabbing his things.

"Hey Clayton, can you do me a favor?"

"Sure. What do you need Maks?"

"Can you grab me a cup of ice water please? I wasn't thirsty until she fell asleep."

"That's always how it seems to go. I checked on Adalyn, she is still sound asleep. She hasn't moved from how I laid her down. I think we tired her out at the park. Here you go" Clayton says handing Maks his cup of water.

"Thanks"

"Anything else before I go?"

"No, I'm good. Thanks though. Have fun."

"You're welcome. See you later." Clayton left and Maks goes back to his emails. Well he was going to but he couldn't because Meryl is on his lap and he has no where to put his laptop. He just puts the TV on instead.

Meryl woke up to Maks watching reruns of NCIS. It is one of their favorite shows.
