Chapter 12

Saturday May 25

Meryl woke up feeling so refreshed the next morning. She slept through the night for the first time since Adalyn came to them. She wonders if Maks did too. She rolls over and looks for Maks. He isn't in bed. She thinks maybe Adalyn had woken up last and he had gone into her room and fell asleep. She gets up out of bed and goes to the bathroom before going to look for Maks. She checks Adalyn's room first. Neither one was in there. She decides to go downstairs. She finds them in the living room. She sneaks up behind Maks and wraps her arms around his neck.

"Good morning Teddy Bear. How long have you two been awake?"

"Good morning Princess. Have you looked at the clock yet this morning?"

"No, I guess I haven't. What time is it?"

"10:15." He turns and kisses her cheek.

"What? Really? You let me sleep that long? Maks!"

"Meryl, you obviously needed the sleep. Let's get you some breakfast."

"I guess you are right. I am kind of hungry." She lets go of Maks and he stands up. "Good morning Adalyn."

"Good morning Mama."

Maks leads Meryl into the kitchen and got her favorite cereal out of the pantry. He pours her a bowl and then sits on the bar stool next to her.

"How are you feeling this morning?"

"I never got sick this morning. I feel good. Did Adalyn make it through the night last night or did you have to go to her room?"

"She made it through the night. The first night she slept through the night. We all slept through the night.

"That's wonderful! I'm so happy."

"O am too Princess. I am too."

"How do you think meeting Charlie and Tanith will go today? I'm a little worried to be honest."

"I think it may be a little rough but she'll warm up to them just like she has done each time. She has been pretty quiet this morning though."

"Do you think we should wait until tomorrow? It might help her."

"No. I think she'll have the same reaction today or tomorrow. We'll be fine."

"Ok, if you believe so."

"I do. I love you" Maks says

"I love you too. I think we should give her a bath before we go. I want to shower too."

"Ok. Why don't you go shower first? Then we can give her a bath. Does that sound good to you?"

"Yes. Thank you. Do you need to shower?"

"No" he says taking her empty bowl and gives her a kiss. "I already took one. Your Mom and Dad watched her while I showered."

"Oh I'm glad. I'll be back soon."

"Enjoy your shower beautiful."

"Thanks." Meryl goes over to Adalyn and gives her a kiss on the head. "Adalyn, I'm going to shower. After I'm done, we are going to give you a bath since we are meeting Uncle Charlie and Aunt Tanith later. Ok?"

"Ok Mama. I can bring Lambie right?"

"Yes of course you can. I'll see you in a little while for your bath. I love you milaya devushka."

"OI love you too Mama."

Meryl goes to go shower. She is so happy this morning. She is so excited to see Charlie and Tanith and gush over their pregnancies together. Well and introduce them to Adalyn.
