Chapter 32

Thursday, December 25th

Maks wakes up to Meryl getting up to get Brynlee who is crying. What a wonderful way to wake up this Christmas morning. He wishes Adalyn was in the room too. That would have made it a perfect Christmas morning wake up.

"Merry Christmas Princess" he says as she climbs back into bed to fee Brynlee.

"Merry Christmas Teddy Bear."

"Is it bad that I really want to wake Adalyn?"

"We are not doing that! Let her sleep."

"I know. I just... I'm so excited!"

"I am too Maks but I don't want a cranky Adalyn."

"Yea, me either."

"Should I make breakfast?"

"No, I bought bagels and Danishes. There is fruit left over too. No one will want to miss any of the presents to cook."

"You're so smart Princess. I'll just put coffee on when we go down. We are all probably going to need it."

"Oh good idea."

All of a sudden, Maks gets a text. It is from Val.

V- We are all up over here. Everyone up over there?

M- You all are up early. That we know of, just Meryl, Brynlee, and I are awake. You all can come over now if you want. I'm going to lay breakfast out now.

V- Great. We'll head over then. We'll be quiet so we don't wake anyone.

M- Sounds good. See you soon.

"That was Val. They are heading over now. I'm going to lay out breakfast and start some coffee."

"Ok. I'll be down soon. Oh Maks?"

"Yea?"

"Put your pajamas back on." He is in just his boxers.

"Ah good idea." He grabs the Christmas pajamas and puts them on before going downstairs.

Meryl finishes feeding Brynlee and changes her diaper. Shen then goes to peak into Adalyn's room. Right as she is reaching for the doorknob, she hears a door open. She turns and sees Clayton coming out of this guest room.

"Merry Christmas Clay."

"Merry Christmas Meryl. Is she still sleeping?"

"I think so. I was just going to look in and check." Before she can grab the doorknob, Cheryl and Paul come out of their guest room.

"Merry Christmas" Cheryl says with a big smile.

"Adalyn still asleep?" Paul ask motioning to her door.

"I was going to look and see." She finally gets to open the door. She steps in and sees Adalyn is still sound asleep. She quietly backs out and closes the door. "She's still asleep" she says and they all head down the stairs.

A few minutes later Val, Jenna, Sasha, and Larissa come quietly into the house. They are surprised to see everyone but Adalyn awake.

"Hey all. There is coffee ready and bagels and Danishes on the counter. Help yourselves" Meryl says.

"Should we wake her now?" Maks asks looking at Meryl.

"How about we go check on her? She should be waking up soon anyway. Come on" she says taking his hand and pulling him up the stairs.

Maks opens the door and they see Adalyn beginning to wake up. She slowly turns her head and looks at them.

"Merry Christmas Adalyn" Maks says rushing to her bed and sitting on the edge of the bed. Meryl stands next to him with an arm around his neck.
