Chapter 24

Thursday, September 25th

"Maks, I'm going to go get Adalyn from school."

"Ok. Do you want to pick up some lunch on you way back over?"

"Sure. Good idea. I'll be back soon."

Meryl and Maks are at the DWTS studio. Val and Jenna are practicing their dance early today. They want Maks to be there to make sure everything looks right.

Meryl drives to pick Adalyn up. When she pulls up, she isn't being held. She looks at the picnic table and she isn't their either but Lambie is. Meryl finds her playing at the sand box.

"Hi Meryl" Mrs. Baron says when Meryl walks up to the gate to let Meryl in.

"Hi. How did she do today?"

"This is the calmest and happiest she has been today."

"Lots of tears again?"

"Yes but we did get some one word answers out of her today so that was great. She does all of the activities, she just has tears rolling down her face all day."

"I'm sorry."

"There is nothing to be sorry about. Trust me, we have seen and dealt with much worse. She'll get use to it soon."

"I hope so. Does she normally leave Lambie?"

"No. This is the first time. That is Cozette. We call her Cozy. She asked Adalyn to play in the sandbox with her and on her own, Adalyn decides to leave Lambie on the table."

"That's awesome. They are playing so nicely. I don't want to call her over but we have to go pick up lunch and go back to the studio where Maks is."

"I'll call her over. Adalyn, Mama is here."

Adalyn drops the toys she is playing with runs to grab Lambie and her back pack, and then runs to Meryl.

"Hi milaya devushka" Meryl says while Adalyn hugs her.

"What does that mean?" Mrs. Baron asks.

"Milaya devushka?"

"Yea. What does that mean?"

"Oh it means sweet girl in Russian. It's her nickname. Adalyn, tell Mrs. Baron what Brynlee's nickname is."

"Malyutka."

"That's beautiful. What does that mean?"

"It means little one" Meryl says.

"So cute! I love the name Brynlee as well. The spelling is so unique. I love it."

"I'm guessing you saw our interview on GMA?"

"I did."

"Well thank you. Adalyn, say goodbye to Mrs. Baron."

"Bye" she says with a little wave.

"Bye Adalyn. We'll see you tomorrow."

"Bye Adalyn" a little voice says. They see Cozette coming up to Adalyn and gives her a hug.

"Bye Cozy."

Meryl grabs Adalyn's hand and they head to the car.

Meryl picked up In-N-Out Burger and she and Adalyn are now parking in the studio parking lot.

"Mama?"

"Yes Adalyn?"

"Why are we here again?"

"Papa is helping Dyadya Val and Tetya Jenna with a dance."
