Hours go by, four and I have yet to find anything leading us to David. We've gone through every security camera in the erudite area, but nothing tells us where David disappeared to.
"Four," I hesitantly murmur. He looks up from his laptop and places his glasses on the table.
"What's wrong?" He asks, sensing my concern.
"This doesn't make any sense, no one just disappears into thin air." I pause, "What if David can't be found, because he is still in the erudite building?"
"We had that building searched top to bottom. There's no way he would still be in there. Plus, it's still closed down. The loyal members have had the option to go to a different headquarters, the others are on trial." He replies with a shrug.
Trial? How many people were working side by side with David? I voice my thoughts and four kisses my nose before answering me.
"Only a few, seven to be exact." He replies. I shake my head clear of worries and take a deep breath.
"We're going in the wrong direction. This doesn't feel right. We're wasting time watching security cameras, when there hasn't been any indication that he left the building." I repeat.
"I'm going to finish watching this one more time. You get started on your theory, then I'll help you." He promises. I smile in accomplish and open my own laptop.
__________________An excited squeal leaves my mouth and I hop in my seat. Four's eyes meet mine and he frowns in confusion.
I've been searching for nearly an hour, and I finally found one teeny, tiny, micro-sized detail.
"What? Did you find something?" He questions.
"Well the security footage is un-hackable, I tried everything, it was a custom made system to keep everyone out... So I did some deeper digging. I thought about it, and what I would do if i was David." I state. Four raises his eyebrows and twists in his seat so he's fully facing me.
"What did you find?" He asks expectantly.
"Well... see for yourself." I reply and turn my laptop towards him.
I click on the video and it begins to play.
"What am I watching?" Four asks with a confused look on his face."Look, this is the security footage from the gas station across the street from erudite. Since erudite is mainly a glass building, I zoomed in a focused on some of the windows. The third floor, six rooms to the right." I say and replay the video. His eyes stay trained on the screen. The footage ends once again and he looks at me.
"There was someone in that room?" He asks, obviously not seeing the thing I am.
"Yes, and then he disappeared. So I got the footage from the corner store on the other side of the building. There's a trash chute, it leads drops outside." I reply and get up the next footage.
The pieces form in Four's mind and he huffs. A stressed sigh leaves his mouth when the footage ends and he leans back in his chair.
"You're telling me, that David had this escape planned for a while. There's no way that he came up with this on the spot..... Plus, there's no way he would know his way around the sewer tunnels." He states. Yep, now he's seeing what I'm seeing. David decided to take the route that no one thought of, and now, he can be anywhere.
"Tobias.... What if he does know his way around the tunnels? I mean, there's been many times when him and Jeanine just, disappeared into thin air. Maybe this is the answer we've been searching for." I hesitantly ask. His eyes shine with happiness and he nods his head in agreement.
