"Rob what's going on?" I ask as he hugs me to his chest. He winces at my question and continues his silent torture.
"Is it Susan? Have you found her?" I ask and rub his back. He relaxes and pulls away to look me in the eyes.
"I think she's behind my parents death." he whispers.
"Robby that's crazy." I giggle. His eyes pierce into mine and my small smile drops at his seriousness.
"What's got you thinking this?" I cautiously ask."It makes sense. She lied and said she was going with her friends on some trio. Then we get kidnapped and my parents die, now she's no where to be found. Her friends don't know where she is." he rants.
"Maybe she's with a different friend?" I suggest.
"I know all of her friends." he replies.
"Then maybe she has a boyfriend or something? Rob you need to stop jumping to conclusions." I sigh and look him in the eyes."I'll work on finding her. Just... just don't worry until we actually find something that leads to her. I'm sure she's okay." I whisper. He sighs and brushes my hair out of my face.
"How are you? Are you feeling better?" He asks.
"Yea, a lot better." I confirm. He sighs in relief and puts his hand on my waist."I was so worried about you." he murmurs and I uncomfortably shift.
"I'm fine. My head doesn't hurt anymore." I repeat and look up at him.
"Was there anything else you needed to ask me?" I question.
"No." he answers and I see the hurt in his eyes as I move away from his hand."You really like this four guy... don't you?" He asks.
"Yea, I do." I quietly reply.
"So... there's no more us, is there?" He asks."Robert, I'm happy with four. There hasn't been an us for a while. You're my best friend, the only one that I have left." I whisper, "don't ruin this."
"I'm not going to ruin anything. I'll wait though... I'll wait until you realize that we belong together. I've missed you so much Tris." he sighs.
"I've missed you too." I quietly admit. We stay silent for a few minutes and there's a knock on the door.
"Twenty minutes are up." I murmur and call for four to come in. He immediately comes to my side and pulls me into his arms.
"I'll talk to you later Rob." I add.
"Yea, see you Tris." he replies and glares at four before exiting my apartment. The door shuts behind him and I look up at fours worried eyes."What did he want?" He asks.
"Just comfort from a friend." I lie, causing relief to flood his features. He obviously doesn't pick up on the lie."Shall we finish the movie?" He asks.
"Yea." I reply and sit back down. His arms wrap around me and I lean my head against his chest.
______
"Tris." someone whispers in my ear. I squirm closer to Four and his chest shakes with laughter."Time to get up." he coos and twirls a piece of my hair around his finger.
"I'm tired." I grumble.
"I know, but we have to go back to work today." he sighs. i force my eyes open and he presses our lips together.
"Okay." I agree when he pulls away. He quirks a smile then stands up."I'll meet you back here in twenty minutes." he states.
"Okay." I repeat and sit up. He pecks my lips once more, then leaves the room. My door shuts and I stand up. I take a quick shower, then change into a random outfit. I meet four in the hallway and he wraps his arm around my shoulders."So you haven't found anything else on Caleb?" I question.
"Not yet. Chris and Uriah have been put on the same case as us. They don't know your last name, so they don't know that Natalie and Andrew are your parents." he quietly murmurs. I stiffen and look up at him.
"But they will figure it out. Its not that hard to put the pieces together." I worry.
"You'll be fine." he promises and kisses my forehead. I relax against his side and his arms wrap around me.
"Now... what really happened with Robert?" He asks. I nervously take a step away from him and he looks at me with raised eyebrows."We're dating now, that means no secrets." he states.
"I know, I just.... its not my secret to tell. I have to keep this on the low." I whisper."Who am I going to tell?" He challenges. I look up at him and his eyes narrow slightly. His jaw twitches with anger and I sigh.
"Fine, I'll tell you. But not here." I snap and grab his hand. I pull him into a random room and he chuckles as he looks around. Were now standing in a small janitors closet, with a sketchy lightbulb hanging in the middle. The orange light flows slightly, so I can barely see his face.
"Susan is apparently not where she said she was. She told Robert she was going on a trip with some friends. But he called the girls and told me that no one knows where she is... I'm starting to think that she's either involved in all of this, or she's out with a boyfriend or other friends. I don't know anymore... it just seems too easy. If she's behind this it wouldn't be hard to trace back to her." I quietly rant.
"So you're telling me that she's missing, and you planned on keeping it from me?" He challenges, even though I can't see his face, I can tell that he's pissed due to the tone of his voice.
Before I can comprehend what's happening, he's gone.
