Chapter 38 Treason

I slowly opened my eyes. I saw many cadets where gathered together in front of me. I felt pressure on my back, so I turned my head and saw that I was leaning on a building.
"Oh, your awake!" Said Jen, standing next to me. She walked over to me and knelt on my side.
"You ok? How'd you feel?" She asked.
"I'm fine, just really tired." I sighed.
"You shouldn't move yet. A lot has happened when you where fighting."
"What?"
"You were able to defeat Tom, and the Survey Corps has secured him. But we lost a lot of lives. Including Dr. Jeager and the commander." Jen said as she lowered her head.

My eyes widened to the memory of Tom swinging their bodies from the wires of the gear they were using. I started to tear up, having the guild over well me.
"It's my fault, they should still be alive." I whispered.
"Look, I know that they died, and other cadets as well. But it's not your fault. We have to expect deaths when it comes to Titans. I'm upset about this too, but I got up and still fighting. You do the same. Julia got the rest of the Survey Corps, and is dealing with Tom right now." Said Jen.

I sighed, and rested my head on my hand.
"My as well tell me everything that happened, I don't remember." I said.
"Well, you seemed normal and in control. But I think witnessing the commander and Jeager's death, you kind of lost it. Your crystals were sharper, and they cut through his armor. Then when you finally beat him, I was ordered to cut you out, because you were going to rip his human body apart." Explained Jen.

I covered my head with arm to hide my tears.
"Hey, you two! Who are you?!" Someone yelled.
"Lilly, look up." Whispered Jen as she got up. I lifted my head and saw my parents standing in front of me. They didn't look injured from the collapsed building, but their clothes were a little dirty and ripped.
"You lost this." Smiled my father. He handed me his ring. I reached out and took it back. I stood up and wiped my face.
"Nice to see you Jen." Smiled my mother.
"Mrs. Starks." Jen replied.
"If you will let us, we would like to talk to you." Said my father. I look over at Jen and she nods her head and we pull them over from the commotion and get captain Julia to join the conversation.
"We worked with Dr. Jeager for a long time, during that time we were able to make the vaccine that everyone takes in the villages every year. We were also trying to make a cure for Titans. As the Survey Corps learned many years ago that Titans are really people, we continued to try to make a cure. But all has been a failure. That's when we found out someone was a spy and giving information to people trying to make the Titan serum that the Reise family made. We told Jeager about it, and she assigned us to join them and give information back to her." Father began.
"What about fusing animal DNA into the formula?" Asked Julia.
"They wanted us to add the to the serum to produce a Titan with strong powers." Mother said.
"So what about the colossus Titan that appeared in the year 1100."
"Sadly that was me. We had to make sure that they trusted us, and for that that to happen we did as they said to. Luckily we only had to go through one wall, and not the others." Father admitted.
"Is there a way to seal up the outer wall in Nishi district?" Jen asked.
"Yes, we have the serum that will harden when transformed. It's been used many times, and is how our walls were created." Mother replied.
"We just need someone who will take the injection and transform to seal up the wall." Father added.

We stood silent for a few seconds. Right before I was going to step up and volunteer, Jen stood in front of me and took the spot.
"I'll do it." She said as she stepped forward.
"Hold it, why are you volunteering? I should do it, I already have a Titan power." I said as I grabbed her arm.
"Exactly you already have enough to worry about. Let me do this and you can relax for once." Jen said.
"I'm warning you, taking this injection will disturb you and your life." My mother proclaimed.
"I don't care, I just want to have all this Titan spy crap done." Sighed Jen.

"Ok, this is very difficult to handle, once the solution makes contact with air it will evaporate. So the best way to inject it would have to be done by needle. When it it ethers your system, and that will be very quickly, you will loose control and instantly turn unit a Titan. We can have you go to a secure place to inject it to you then cut you out, and you can seal the wall with control. Or we go to the wall and give It to you right there and have you transform. Your decision." My father explained.

Jen brought her hand to her chin and thought for a minute. Then she said "I want to take it somewhere isolated, then go to the wall and do it."
"Ok, we you have to do it in a cave, that way we know you can hold it up." Mother said. Jen nodded her head.
"Hold up! I don't agree with this!" Julia yelled.
"Don't worry about me, I want to be of some use to humanity for once." Jen smiled. I sighed, and a began to worry for Jen.
"So, when do we start?" Jen asked. Her tone quickly changed from happy, to serious.
"Anytime, the sooner the better." My father said.
"Ok, let's go now. Julia, can you get a carriage for us to go in?" Jen asked.
"There's one already near by."
"Alright then, where should we go?"
"There is a a field in the southern part of Shiganshina, there is also one cave we can inject the serum to Jen in."
"Let's go then." Jen said as she started walking away.

We followed her to the carriage and all got in. Jen and I sat next to each other, while my parents were next to each other, and captain Julia was driving.
"Why no driver?" I asked.
"Money issues, but it doesn't matter at long as we get there." Sighed Julia. She told her assistant of her squad to take charge for a few days and that we'd be back soon.

We then left the 'battle field' and started heading South. In a few hours we were able to make it to the field my parents spoke of.
"How'd you know about this place?" I asked say I stepped out from the carriage and looked around.
"We tested Tom's and Mariana's Titans here." My mother sighed.
"So where is the cave?" Asked Jen.
"It's under ground, just over 5 meters from here. Be careful. It's underground  with stares." My mother warned. I sit on the ground and lay back, speeding out my arms and legs.
"Can we just lays own and sleep? This is nice and quiet." I sighed as I closed my eyes.
"Maybe later." Jen chuckled. I got up from the ground and walked up with Jen.

My parents got I front of us, followed by Julia, then Jen and I. We walked down the stares until we hit flat ground. I looked up to the sealing and it was at least six stories from where I was standing.
"Alright, Capitan Julia once I give the injection to Jen, let her transform then immediately cut her out. She shout be able to make basically a beam to support the ceiling. Now when this happens, Lilly run to the farthest side you can to the wall." My mother explained. I nod my head and Julia pulls her blades out and gets ready. Mother takes Jen in the middle of the cave and pulls out a small bottle and a syringe with a needle. She puts the needle through the top of the bottle and gets the liquid into the syringe. She then pulls it out and raises it, waiting for Jen to pull up her sleeve. Jen does so, and prepares for her new fate.

My mother sticks the needle into Jen's arm and pushes in the serum. Jen begins to scream, as my mother takes the needle from her arm. An orange flash brightens up the cave, and my mother then yells for my to run. I do, and get to the wall far from Jen, but it's still close enough for me to observe. I watched as Jen grew and flesh was being formed around her. Her arms and legs look liked the were growing and attaching themselves to the ceiling and the ground. When all the the smoke around her neck cleared, I saw Julia use her gear to get to her neck and she carefully cut Jen out. As Julia brought Jen to the ground I ran over.
"Is she ok?!" I asked, freaking out.
"Don't worry the first time, will exhaust her." My father said as he and my mother walked over.

I looked up and saw that Jen's Titan was still there and wasn't evaporating away. I got very happy, and began to smile.
"It was a success!! We might actually have a chance to end all of this!" I said. We waited until Jen woke up and was able to stand before we left.

"So, it worked?" Jen asked.
"Yes." I said while nodding my head. We begin walking back up the stares to get to above ground.
"That's great, humanity's got another chance." Smiled Jen. I looked at her face and saw that she looked exhausted. As we get to the surface, the sunlight shines very bright, causing me to cover my eyes. When I'm now standing on the ground of the surface someone yells "Freeze!! Hands up!"

I uncover my eyes and see what looks like the whole Military Police regiment. I put hands up, as the threaten to shoot Jen and I. My parents and Julia finally get to the surface and are force to put their hands up as well.
"What's the meaning of this?!" Yelled Julia. A man walked forward and read aloud "Jen Carsol and Captain Julia Carsol, please step aside and let us do our jobs." I look over at Jen and whisper "Do as they say." She nods her head and her and Julia back a few feet away.
"Arrest them!!" Yelled the man. I'm shocked, and I yell out "What for?!" Suddenly someone snakes my back and I fall to the ground. They handcuff my hands and pull me from the ground by the collar of my jacket. The man looks me right in the eye and yells "Will Starks, Krista Starks and Lilly Starks, you are charged with treason!"
