After hearing Carol's name I continued watching the next half hour of the ceremony, but I dose off, making it seem only a few minutes. I stayed at the top of the mill until I heard Jen beneath me. I then climbed down and met up with Julia and Jen.
"Congrats." I said while shifting my eyes between the two of them. I pulled down my hood and squinted my eyes from the small flicker of light from a torch Julia held.Suddenly I notice someone running toward us. I couldn't tell who it was, but their figure was getting brighter and brighter as she run to the light.
"Lilly!" The person yelled. Her voice was really familiar, but I couldn't name it. Julia and Jen step aside and the girls runs up hugs me. I step back from the impact.
"I haven't seen you in so long!" The girl squealed. I then realized who the voice belonged to.
"Hi Carol." I sad resting my arms slightly on her back. She let go and I looked at her face. She had small circles under her eyes, but beside that she looked exactly the same. She moved over and then hugged Jen.
"So how has been the Survey Corps? I'm glad you still alive!" She laughed. We giggled a little and Jen explained that it's something that would never be expected. Carol raised an eyebrow, confused of how Jen worded it.
"So what are you doing in the MP?" Jen asked.
"Oh, I'm actually doing something cool! From what I was told, me and my partner will be following this fugitive. They were sentenced to death but they have to accomplish some things first, I guess. But doesn't that sound cool?!" She smiled. Jen and I shared a look then turned back to Carol.
"Carol, that fugitive, what were they charged for?" Jen asked.
"Um, treason. I think." She said with a finger to her chin.
"I'm that fugitive." I said.
"What?! Your charged with treason? Your a traitor?" Carol asked, backing away.
"No, listen. I'm only charged with that because I have the ability to turn unit a Titan. It was an automatic loss for me. I was lucky enough to get out for sometime to help seal up the broken wall." I explained.
"I can't believe that... I don't want to go on this assignment anymore. I don't want to see your final days." Carol said as she cover her moth with her hand.
"You should still continue it. We can't have you get involved in this mess. Continue it." Julia said. Something seemed a little off how she immediately jumped for Carol to continue.Carol nodded her head said that she will.
"We should be going now." Julia added.
"Right, well hopefully we'll see you again Carol." I said walking back from the group a few steps. From that we said bye to Carol and managed to hop into a carriage.
"This time, we're going to Shiganshina." Julia started. "We'll be having Jen transforming and make several pillars in the cave. You'll have to learn how to do this all on you own." She finished.
"If you have any questions, I can maybe help you." I said. Jen nodded and thanked me. Once again the carriage began moving. I slid down in my seat, trying to get comfortable.
"Why are we forced to do all this traveling?" I moaned. Jen shrugged her shoulders and Julia shook her head. For a good long three days, we arrived in Shiganshina. I turned my head to the window behind me and saw the MP carriage still following us. I think of how Carol must be talking up a storm to whoever is in there with her. I silently chuckle a little and turn back into my seat. As we go through the final buildings of the city and get to the plain field, I watch Julia reading a book she found in here. Every few minutes she turns a page and continues whatever is happening in the book. I sigh and get sick of the silence.
"What's that about?" I ask.
"Oh, it's just one of those 'wall preacher' books. Saying how God saved us with these walls, and things like that." She breathed.
"Those people still exist?" Jen asked.
"Probably, not as many."
"But aren't the walls made of the same Titan Jen can make?" I asked.
"Yes, but the public doesn't know, they haven't for around 200 years." Julia said as she closed the book and placed it next to her.
"Sense the military was able to get the rightful queen years ago, they dismissed the titan walls and got Eren Jeager to seal up whatever was breached in 845. I guess living dumb, is living happy." Julia finished. It was a good 30 seconds of silence until Jen said "I wish I could be living dumb." I lowered my head. Jen was right, it was clear that she wanted to live not knowing the things we do know.
"I would want to live not knowing things too." I agreed.
