Chapter 8 The Titan Ring

"My parents... are dead." I whispered again.
"I never got to see them again!" The tears got my eyes blurry, and I had to wait until the tears left my eyes and ran down my cheeks. I got up off the ground, turned around and walked to Jeager and the other soldier who was giving the news. I want to make sure I didn't hear correctly, that I just heard wrong, and my parent are alive killing those monsters!

I did the solute and asked "Did you say Will and Krista Stark?" I looked at the man with the tears dripping down my face.
"Yes. And who are you?" Replied the man. The air left my lungs and I couldn't breath.
"I'm Lilly Stark, Will and Krista's daughter." I replied, having more tears drip down my face.
"Were they helpful, did they succeed on helping humanity?" I asked. The man nodded his head and said "They were very helpful! They were in a mission to capture a Titan and study it, sadly they died in the process. And we learned more from that capture!"

I smiled, happy that my parents didn't die useless to humanity. I dried my eyes and said thank you to the man.
"Wait! We did find something of theirs, if you want it." Said the man
"Yes please!" I replied, happy to have something from them, to remind me. The man pulled out a ring and necklace and handed it to me. I covered my eyes and stared at the jewellery. The necklace was a diamond butterfly and was my mother's. The ring had designs the twist around the ring, it was my father's.

I smiled, remembering the times I spent with my parents when I was young and when I was older.
"Thank you." I said, with more tears coming down my cheeks. Battlow walked over, looking pissed off.
"What's going on?!" He yelled. I looked scared, not knowing his volume would be loud. Jeager bit her lip and pulled Battlow over, far away to explain the incident.

I stuck the jewellery into my jacket pocket and stepped back into line. Tears were still running down my face as I tried to breath. People began looking at me, watching me cry. It made me feel week, so I looked at the ground and ignored them.

The sun was beginning to set, and a bell began to ring. I looked up and dried my tears.
"ALL OF YOU GO INTO THE MAIN BUILDING AND FIND YOUR CABIN AND TO THE MESS HALL TO EAT! DISMISSED!" Yelled Battlow.
"YES SIR!" Me and all the other cadets replied.

I didn't want to eat, I felt sick to my stomach. I walked to the main building, were I was first signed in. Jen, Mariana and Tom walked up behind from behind and made me stop by getting into my way.
"What?" I asked, annoyed and wanting to be alone.
"We'er just making sure you'er alright." Said Tom.
"I'm fine!" I snapped. Tom looked shocked that I snapped, he's never seen my snap before.
"Why wouldn't you expect that from her? She just found out that her parents are dead, and you think she would be happy? Leave her alone, she needs time to think." Said Mariana, in a calm, motionless way.
"I NEVER said that!" Tom yelled.
"Guys! Not now! Lilly, we'll be in the mess hall, when your ready, come and eat." Said Jen. I nodded my head. Tom patted my back and they walked away.

I walked into the building and saw that there were a few people in line to get their cabin number. I looked at the front of the line and there was a boy, who looked my age. He had
brown-reddish hair. He had freckles and was tall, at least 5,6. He looked some-what buff. I smiled at his charm, but the smile quickly disappeared when I remembered the last moment I saw my parents.

I stood in line and waited until I was at the front. When I got there a women asked my name and gave me the cabin number. She looked up to give me the key and widened her eyes.
"Oh my... I'm very sorry for your loss." Said the women. I nodded my head and thanked her.

Why are people feeling sorry for me? Don't they know that this is usual now, a specially with the Titan invasion on outer wall? I reacted like that because that's never happened to me before! Thy shouldn't feel sorry for something that happens to almost everybody! I looked at the key and read the number.
"B-12" I said softly to myself. I looked up and walked outside. I turned my head to find the pattern of the cabin numbers and began to walk right from the cabins that said 'A' on it.

I eventually got to the cabin and opens the door. As I opened the door I heard whimpering and crying sounds. I looked to where the sound came from. There was a girl curled into a ball crying. She didn't notice me, so I walked in finding my clothes on a dresser next to a bunk bed.
"Oh! Sorry I didn't notice you." Said the girl wiping her eyes.
"I'm Michelle Ackerman. What's your name?" Said the girl again.
I didn't look at her, I really didn't look at anyone, besides the boy in the front of the line.
"Lilly Stark." I replied.

"Your name is 'Ackerman' isn't that the famous soldier Mikasa Ackerman's last name?" I asked. Michelle nodded her head. She said that she is only related to Mikasa by the father's side of the family. I nodded my head and collected my clothes so I could get changed. I walked into the bathroom that had one toilet, sink, mirror and shower. I took off my uniform and took out my parents jewellery. I put the jewellery on the sink and got changed, putting on my dirty pants, broken shoes and hoodie.

I picked up my mother's necklace and looked at the diamonds held in it. There was dried blood on the chain, and part on the butterfly. I started to cry again. I turned on the water and ran the necklace under the the water. I pulled the necklace out and looked back at it. The blood stain was partially gone. I put on the necklace. It was short, close to my neck, but I didn't mind.

I picked up my father's ring and ran my finger through the twisted designs. There were some dry blood on it, so I washed it off. As I was looking at the designs, I noticed a 'button' on the ring. I pressed the button and a sharp hook popped out. The tip of it shined from the candle lights. I widened my eyes when I realized what this ring could be with the hook. I stated at the ring and said quietly to myself "Could this be the type of ring the female Titan used to transform into a Titan? Could this be a Titan Ring?!"
