Chapter 10 Malfunction

The smoke finally cleared the room, and I looked back down at the gash.
It was completely healed, barley even a scar. I yanked my arm away from Jeager and held it close to my body. My arm was still hot but I ignored it. I looked up at Jeager with a scared face.
Could it be true? That I can transform into a monster, a monster that almost brought humanity to extinction.

"Lilly, listen to me. I'll let you ware this ring due to family purposes. But do NOT put that hook out and cut your self! You are showing high signs of transformation, and I don't want that to happen to you in front of people. God only knows what would happen to you. Got it?!" Said Jeager in a serious voice. I felt myself beginning to shake as I nodded my head in agreement.

"But what do I tell my friends?!" I said while panicking. Jeager tilted her head in a position where her classes reflected the candle light and I couldn't see her eyes.
"You can tell your friends, if you trust them. Think of who you can trust before you say anything." I nodded my head and left the room as soon as I could. I jumped when the door closed completely. I looked down and found my fathers ring near my feet with the hook tucked in. Jeager must have slid under the door. I picked it up and placed it on my left index finger. I looked back up and began to walk up the flights of stairs.

I got up to the top floor and walked to the door. When I opened the door, I found Sargent Battlow barking orders to the other cadets. I walked up to Battlow and said "Sir, what are we doing?" He looked over at me and gave me a scowl.
"Why must you know?" Asked Battlow.
"I want to get to work ad not miss anything! Sir!" I replied. Battlow nodded his head and turned back to the cadets.
"LISTEN UP MAGETS!!!! LINE UP AT THE VERTICAL MANUVERING MACHINES!!! YOU ARE GOING TO BE TESTED ON IF YOU COULD STAND STRAIGHT UP WITH THE VM GEAR!!! IF YOU FAIL YOU WILL BE SNENT TO THE FEILDS!!!" Battlow screamed.

"SIR!!!!" Replied all the cadets. I ran over to the group of cadets and looked around to see if I could find my friends. Finally, I saw Jen and I sprinted over as fast as I could. When I got to her I saw Mariana, Tom, Michelle, and Shaun standing near by.
"Hey!! Where were you!" Yelled Jen.
"I was..." I stopped when I realised that I shouldn't say anything about the smoke incident.
"I'll tell you later." I finished. Jen nodded her head in reply.
"I see you met Shaun." I said trying to change the subject.
"Yeah, he told us you guys met already. We also met a girl from Trost district! Her name is Carol, but I think she ran off some where." Replied Jen. I smiled and looked over at Mariana, and my smile disappeared. She still looks cold with no expression or feelings.

By the time we got over to the MG gear machines, there was already a line. I looked to the side to see what was going on. In the front there were people dangling in the middle of two large pieces of metal with two wires holding them up. Looked off into space and was beginning to get anxious. What if I fail?! I'll be sent to the fields pulling weeds. Before I was being forced into the Survey Corps with Dr. Jeager, but now I have cause to kill the titans! My parents are dead and I was never able to see them again. I can't fail, I won't fail! I'll have the best score in this group of the Training Corps!

By the time we got to the front of the line it was mid-day. A cadet was giving us belts that had hooks and attachments on it. We were told to put them on, so we did. Mariana was the first one to be tested on. Other cadets hooked her up and Battlow gave the instruction to pull her up. As they did Mariana looked ahead and closed her eyes. When they raised Mariana to the top, she was completely still, as if she was a pro! Next was Shaun, they raised him in the air. I tried to ignore looking at his face, but that didn't work out. I stared at his charm and didn't realise that I was starting to drool. I wiped my face and snapped back into reality. Shaun was a little shaky, but quickly fixed it. Then it was Tom. They raised him up and he looked down at me and smiled. I stuck up my thumb showing he was doing a good job and he looked away. Again Tom was shaky, but he didn't fix it. We was shaky the whole test. As long he didn't fall over he would pass. Through out the day other cadets have gone.
