Callie's POV:

I walk out the door and into the bright sun with two guards on either side of me. Today is the day I get out of juvie. "Jude, Jude, where is Jude? I need to talk to Jude." I keep yelling frantically, but no one will answer me.

A man walks over to me, "Callie, Callie I'm David and I work with Bill at Child Protective Services."

"Where's Jude? Do you know where he is? I need to talk to him. Where is Bill?" I say in one breath. Why won't anyone listen to me?

"That's enough I don't know what you're talking about, right now follow me." He says hurriedly and then starts to walk away.

I follow him down the side walk and into the paring lot. He stops in front of a woman with caramel colored skin and really curly hair. "Callie, Lena. Lena, Callie. I guess I could bring her to one of the group homes." He says to the curly haired woman, Lena. Does she not want to take me? Nobody ever does, but that doesn't matter I need to talk to Jude. I need to know he's safe.

I feel tears start to fill my eyes as she looks at me. "Only a few weeks right?" The man, David, nods his head. Lena says, okay and David hands her papers that she signs. When she's done we get into her car and drive to my new foster home. Great another one. I hope her husband doesn't hit me or Jude, when I find Jude.

*~~~*

I'm sitting at the end of a long table/island in the middle of Lena's kitchen when a boy a year or two younger than me comes in and sits down a the table. A girl his age soon follows and sits down next to him.

"Callie, this is my son Jesus and my daughter Mariana." They both awkwardly smile at me and say hello. "Callie will be staying with us for a while please make her feel welcome." The both nod and start setting the table for dinner.

After a short silence she says, "you know Mariana and Jesus were in the foster system too. They came to us 8 years ago and we formally adopted them about..." She looks at Mariana who is setting down a plate in front of Lena, "5 years ago." They say in sync.

"The foster system sucks," Jesus chimes in. He looks at my cut and bruised face, "what happened? Did you get into a fight?"

Before I can answer Lena comes to my rescue, "Callie has had a ruff day so why don't we cool it with the third degree."

"Um where's the bathroom?" I say getting up from the chair I was sitting on. They all point to an open door by the fridge. I walk into room and close the door. I look at myself and break down in tears. My cheeks are swollen and bruised and my lip is spit with a scab forming over the cut. A couple girls did this this morning because they were jealous that I was getting out today. I wipe away my tears and splash cold water on my face. I wipe my face off with the towel and walked back into the kitchen.

Now there was one more boy sitting at the table. He had curly dark brown hair and amazing blue eyes. No, Callie you can't be thinking about guys right now, especially a foster brother. You have to find Jude and make sure he's safe. I sit down in the chair that I had been sitting in before, which happened to be next to the blue eyed boy.

"Who is this?" The blue eyed boy asks Lena.

"This is Callie, she's going to be staying with us for a little while."

"Staying with us. Well, I'm Brandon." He says as he puts some food on my plate. I nod my head and look down.

"So where did you get him? The 99 cent store? I mean they have everything." I joke, but I was curious where he came from? Was he a foster kid like me or an actual son?

I look back up when I hear the door open. A blonde woman in a police officer's uniform walks through it. She glances at me, goes to Lena and kisses her cheek.

"Callie this is Stef, my partner and Brandon's biological mother from her previous marriage." I guess I don't have to worry about Lena's husband hitting me.
