"All done." He smiled and pulled away from her, snipping the medical thread off.
"You can look now." Dave nudged you.You smiled and looked back. Her poor head looked like it was in pain. Also her eye didn't help either. The bruising all around it.
"I'm sorry I punched your arm.." She said shamefully. "It was pure reaction."
"It's quite alright." He laughed. "Some have done worse. Like one time a little girl bit my hand. It wasn't reaction. She just bit my hand."
Lindsay laughed.
Was she up and flirting with this hot male nurse? Never mind she is too much of a socially awkward apple.
The nurse pushed his cart away and left. Lindsay instantly reached her hand up, going for the stitches. Dirk grabbed her hand before she had hardly lifted it, and set it down across her stomach. "Stop it."
"Dirk, you're not my father."
"No, but you're going to hurt yourself."
"Why do you care? You're not feeling the pain."
"No, but ... Damn it, just don't, you're going to rip the stitching."
Aren't they such a cute non-couple?
Suddenly a doctor walked in. He had a huge smile on his face. It was the same nice doctor from before. "I have wonderful news! You're insides are doing just fine, if you catch my drift."
You and Lindsay both looked at each other with horror. "Um.." Your sister said. You quickly shot up. "HEY Hey hey. Doctor. How's it going? That's great. Well please just.." You pointed to the hallway. He looked confused. "No no just.. Come .. The hallway. It's nice. Less.... Less room. " He looked at your sister with great confusion, but she nodded. He and you stepped into the hallway.
"I don't understand-"
"I'm so sorry, sir, it's just ah... We are kind of keeping this a secret... For now. Please just. Is it alright?"He smiled. "Oh oh okay I understand. Yes! It's doing just fine. So is she. .. Though why are you keeping all of this from the father?"
You frowned. "What?"
"That man with the odd pointed sunglasses, that's the father."The hugest smile grew on your face. Your plan fell into action nicely. Also you and her both assumed this since no other guy felt attraction to her, but this was still hella fine news.
"How can you tell?"
He flipped the clip board in his hands and showed you the .. Paper thingy.
You looked confused.
He smiled and pointed a bit, explaining the DNA matched a file they had on Dirk. You smiled again.
"We are ah.. Keeping it from him for just a little bit. Waiting for a better moment to tell him."
He smiled and nodded. "Makes sense! Alright.. Well." He lowered his voice for you. "The baby is just fine. Nothing of her stomach is bad. Her concussion won't effect it."You nodded. "I'll be sure and tell her."
He nodded and left, so much nodding. You walked back in the room with a smile.
"What was that about?" Dirk asked.
Oh nothing much, you're just the father of what will be a wonderful child probably.
"Oh! Well.. Ah.." You walked to your sister and patted her stomach. "He was just saying that .. Your stomach is okay! Remember? Because he kicked you.. The man.. A few times..... Really hard. In the stomach.. And the doctor was saying you're okay!"
Damn, you ain't slick either.
Lindsay caught on. "Oh! Oh yes. Yes okay. That's good. Good. Yes I feel much better .. Knowing nothing will happen. To my ... Stomach."
Dirk and Dave both, in unison, cocked their head slightly with confusion.
You and your sister both smiled in unison.
Suddenly your head was reacting to your swift movement and you felt it pound. "Oh my goD." You grabbed your forehead. Dave got up and grabbed your arm, gently pulling you back into his gravity. "Please sit down, you're going to hurt yourself."
You smiled slightly but then winced. "Shut up I'm chill."
He laughed and sat you down.
Your sister looked down to her hand and pulled it away from Dirk, setting her hands across her chest.
"So when are you boys leaving?" She asked, looking back and forth from Dave to Dirk.
"Leaving? I don't think you should be here alone.."
"I'll be released soon I'm sure.."
"Exactly. And you are in no condition to drive, also your car isn't here. Therefore you will need a way home."She sighed and ran a hand through her hair. The side that wasn't stitched. Wouldn't want Dirk throwing a Strider-tantrum.
"I guess I could ask Kan-"
"Nonsense. " Dirk cut her off.His voice was rather .. Not kind. That one voice he rarely pulls, but when he does ... God help.
"Dirk." She began,"Dirk nothing. You're not going to leave with him."
She laughed. "You can't really stop me, you know."
He hesitated. It's kind of true.Damn it, Lindsay he obviously cares about you, why won't you take it?
Maybe she was still hurting and taunting him with another male role in her life was the medicine. That's rather cruel. This is a tough game.
Dave lied your head down on his shoulder again. It was rather nice to watch the lovely two adults go back and forth while lying on Dave's shoulder. He lowkey took your hand in his while watching these two debate on Kane. You didn't like Kane. Go Dirk. Teaaaaam Dirk.
You're an awful cheerleader.
"I'm with Dirk on this. What guy could possibly be safe if he drags you out and practically gives you alcohol poisoning, and doesn't bring you back until 6 the next morning?"
Dirk swiftly turned his head back to her.
"What.""Oh don't act like you're some disappointed, worried father."
"That's dangerous, Lindsay."
"Dirk, calm down.""You just started what can be similar to a Facebook fight." Dave whispered to you. You laughed and looked up at him, looking back to the two.
Dave's thumb ran over your knuckles, you noticed this when you looked down. You wouldn't have ever felt it if you hadn't noticed. It was rather calming.
You yawned. It was like.. What.. Three in the morning? You sighed to yourself. You needed sleep.
Sleep sounds nice, right now.
