Moving on

Michael's POV

I'm getting ready to go and meet Ocean and I've never been so nervous. I haven't seen her in so long and I have no idea how today's gonna go. I haven't asked about 'Us' yet, I know she's my wife so technically we are together but like Jermaine said six weeks is a long time and anything could have happened. "You still getting ready?" Jermaine asks coming into my room. "Anyone would think your getting ready for a first date not going to see your wife" he chuckles slightly. "That's what it feels like" I confess, still messing around with my hair. "So what time is she coming over?"

"Actually we're meeting up at the park. I think she's scared to be alone with me" I sigh sitting on the edge of the bed "she's been through so much and I added even more" he sighs sitting beside me "she agreed to meet you didn't she?"

"Well yeah but..."

"Then she can't be that scared" he reassures me. "Is she bringing DJ?" I shake my head "her parents still have custody and they wouldn't let her take him out for the day" I croak "they don't want her to see or talk to me and they still don't trust that she won't bring him to see me" I purse my lips trying not to cry. "She's risking a lot to come and see you today and I'm sure she'll bring him the first chance she gets"

"It shouldn't be like this! DJs our son we shouldn't need permission to see him" I sob not able to fight my tears anymore "you'll see him again. Maybe not today or tomorrow but you will see him again" he tries to reassure me putting his arm around me. "I just wish all of this would be over. We're a family and we should all be together" he smiles sympathetically through pursed lips "you just concertante on today ok?" I nod wiping away my tears.

Ocean's POV

I barely slept last night thinking about today. I'm so nervous about seeing Michael again and I'm terrified about my family finding out. I agreed to drive up and meet him in a park near where he's living now. Jermaine lives a few towns away so there's less chance of my family finding out. I told them I was going to see an old classmate and they still think I'm going back to school on Monday. I tried to convince my mother to let me take DJ with me but she said she's going to visit a friend today and she's taking DJ with her. I know how much Michael wants to see him and DJ misses him too. I got some pictures of him to give to Michael, I know it's not much but that's all I can do right now.

Once I finally finish getting ready I go downstairs and my mother is laying on the sofa. "I thought you were going out early today?"

"Change of plan" she yawns rubbing her eyes. "Duncan's been up most of the night so I'm going to stay home and try and get some rest "I told I'd get up with him" I point out and she shakes her head "it's fine. You need to be preparing yourself for your first day back on Monday"

"Well I could take DJ with me to go and see Sarah, that way you can get some rest" I suggest "he's been awake most of the night. Best let him get some rest"

"Maybe next time?"

"We'll see" she smiles through pursed lips. She always says this which always means no. "How am I supposed to be a mother to DJ of you wont...."

"Ocean, I'm tired. We can talk about this another time" she cuts me off. I sigh heading for the door and DJ starts crying "I'll go" my mother says quickly getting up "I can..."

"It's fine. You go and meet your friend" she cuts me off again. "Ok, well I'll see later then" I a smile through pursed lips. I can see how exhausted she is and I'm and really hoping DJ is as difficult as possible for her today.

Michael's POV

I've been waiting at the park for the past 20 minutes and Ocean's  still not here. I've tried calling but she's not picking up and I'm starting to think she's not coming. I decided to text her one last time and hope she replies to this one.

To: Ocean
Where are you? X

"Only one kiss?" I smile hearing her voice behind me "you made it!" I turn pulling in her a hug. I go to peck her lips but she turns her head and pecks my cheek. "So how have you been?" I smile through pursed lips feeling pretty bummed she didn't want to kiss me back "I've been good. And you?"

"Good" I nod "how's DJ?"

"He's good. I brought you some pictures for you" she smiles handing them to me "he's so getting big now" I smile staring down at the photos "yeah, he's making a point of  stressing my mom out like crazy" she giggles "that's my boy!" I chuckle.

We sit and talk on the park bench for hours talking about everything that's been going and she tells me about how her mother has been taking over with everything when it comes to DJ. "Sometimes it feels like he's not even ours anymore. It's like their trying to take him away from me" Ocean sobs. I wrap my arms around her pulling her close and she begins to weep into my chest. "They won't!" I tell her sternly "he's our son and we will get him back"

"You really think the courts are just gonna make her hand him over!?" She snaps "I'm 17 with no job and no home and you've just out of rehab and living with your brother. The only way we can get him back is if my mother signs  custody back over to us. And there's no way she's gonna do that. She won't let you near him and I have ask her permission to even bathe or feed him" she croaks and starts sobbing again. "And all I can do is go along with it because she can kick me out and stop me seeing anytime she wants"

"I promise you, We're gonna get him back" I croak cupping her face in my hands "I don't know how but will and we'll be a family I again. I promise" the tears begin rolling down our faces. I kiss her temple tenderly and make my way down to her lips pressing mine softly against hers before deepening my kiss. At first she kisses me back but then breaks away "w-what's wrong?" I stutter nervously. She takes a deep breath and sighs "I have to tell you something"

Sherri's POV

It's 6:30 and Ocean finally arrives home. "Your home very late today"

"I went to visit a friend today didn't my mom tell you?"

"What friend?" I frown as this is the first I've heard about it. "Sarah. She's an old friend from school"

"So your definitely going back?" I smile and she nods "mhm. That's why I was so long. We had a lot of catching up to do?" She smiles through pursed lips. "And you've been with her all day?" I ask skeptically. "Mhm" she smiles through pursed lips once again "I'm gonna go wash up for dinner" she says heading upstairs. And I head into the kitchen.

"I think she's seeing him again" I say to Jessica who's preparing dinner "who?" She looks at me confused "Michael! I'm sure of it" she rolls and sighs "of course she's not. She wouldn't be that stupid. She's been with her friend Sarah all day"

"Have you ever met this friend of hers? And why has she never mentioned her until last now?"

"Well...no but she lives in the next town. And stop worrying! This is a good thing she's reconnecting with her old friends. She moving on from all of this" she tries to reassure me "she's going back to school and she's getting her old life back"

"I don't know" I shake my head still unconvinced. "When I asked her about where she's been today it sounded like it was rehearsed"

"your being paranoid. She wouldn't have known what you were going to ask her so how exactly could she have reheard her answers?" She raises and eyebrow at me. "Well I still think she's hiding something"

"Your just being paranoid" she shrugs "she wouldn't go anywhere near Michael, because she knows what will happen if she does. If Ocean says she's been with Sarah all day then I believe her"
