The alarm I set on my phone went off at 6:30am. With half shut eyes, I moved my arm so I can check on Rei. My eyes shot open when she wasn't there. Immideatelly, I got off the bed to see if she rolled onto the floor. I held my hand over my chest in relief that she wasn't hurt on the ground.
I heard Kip whispering to somebody so I walked over to him and saw that he was rocking Rei in his arms and feeding her some baby food.
He had his shirt off and I saw two tattoos he had on his pecs of skulls and a couple more tattoos on his arms. I don't remember him having those.
He looked up from Rei to notice me standing there. "I heard her getting fussy so I took care of it so you could get some extra sleep. I can't believe you couldn't hear her." he chuckled.
"Thanks. I'm gonna get ready for school. Are you going to be able to watch her while I'm gone?"
"I can't actually. I have to go to work at 8."
I tilted my head, "Where do you work?"
"Teller Morrow Automotive."
"You're a mechanic?" he nodded. "I can take Rei to school with me for now. But I need a job so I can get money to put her in daycare or hire a babysitter." Kip gave me an unsure look, not knowing where I was going with this. "Can you help get me a job there?"
He shook his head and stuttered. "I don't think that's gonna work. It's kind of a family business and they'll hire close friends like me and they don't know you."
"Please." I begged. "I'm great with cars. Especially motorcycles. The only useful thing dad ever really taught me was how to repair automobiles."
He rubbed the back of his neck. "I don't know. We'll see." _______________________________ -Tracy High School-
I walked to school and had Rei resting in her baby carriage. The moment I walked into school people started to give me weird looks. I went into the office and got my schedule. My first period class was Math. Yay...
I guess I was early cuz there wasn't anybody in the class. Except one boy who sat in the back. "Hi, I'm Bayley Epps. I'm a new student." I greeted myself to the teacher.
The man shook my hand. "Nice to meet you. I'm Mr.Layfield." his eyes drifted to Rei. "Who's this?"
"This is my baby sister, Rei. My parents work all day and don't feel comfortable leaving her at a daycare so I offered to bring her to school with me. She won't be a distraction I swear."
Mr.Layfield nodded. "I understand. None of the seats in the back are taken so you can sit there."
I sat beside the boy who was playing on his phone. He looked over to me then at Rei. "Your sisters adorable."
I smiled. "Thank you."
"She looks a lot like you."
"I get that a lot."
"I'm Finn." he greeted. "Your names Bayley, right?"
"Correct."
He nodded then went back to messing with his phone. Finn turned back to me and held his phone out. "Can I have your number?"
I blushed. His Irish accent sounded so amazing. "Sure." I punched my number into his Samsung Galaxy.
"You have any other brothers or sisters?" he asked.
I had a flashback to Kip telling me not to let anybody know that we're related. "Nope. Just me and Rei."
The bell rang and people piled into class. The first thing they noticed was Rei then me. I lost track of how many times I had to say that she was my sister throughout the entire day.
On the bright side, everybody seemed really nice. And that Finn guy was kinda cute. I felt myself blushing and tried to stop. No, I can't date again. I just met him and lied to him about almost everything. Plus, I'm not ready for a relationship. Not after what happened with Rei's dad.
