9 ✣ Basement of Secrets

"Alright any ideas?" Petra asked everyone. Everyone thought for a moment and then I looked up. The usher is afraid of chickens, and there's a chicken machine right next to the usher.

"I think we have a plan" Axel said, everyone looking up at the chicken machine.

"We can get a slime block from over there to get someone up there" Petra pointed to a stand that was selling slime blocks. I walked over to the stand to find the woman I had mistaken to be Ivor.

"Oh... we meet again" I gave a nervous chuckle. "One slime block , please" I told the woman.

"We only sell slime balls, not slime blocks, and we're only giving out two per person"

"Look, I'm sorry about earlier, I honestly thought you were someone else" I told the woman.

"Apology excepted" the woman said.

"A round of slime balls, for everyone please" Axel, Olivia, and Petra walked over to me. The woman gave everyone two slime balls.

"Wait, we only have eight, we need nine to make a slime block" Olivia noted.

"I'll try to find another one" I told her and I saw Lukas, tossing a slime ball in the air and catching it. I walked over to him. "Hey Lukas! Could you lend me a slime ball, I swear I have a really good reason."

"Whatever you guys are doing, count me in" Lukas gave Jesse his slime ball.

"Aw man, this guy isn't actually cool, is he?" Axel asked.

"Remains to be seen" Olivia responded.

We walked over to a crafting table and I placed one slime ball in every slot and once all the slime blocks had been placed it formed into a squishy green block.

"Tada, one slime block... ew" I said.

"I'll take that" Olivia grabbed the slime block and placed it down. Axel gave me a boost on top of a booth and I ran forward, jumping, landing on the slime block, and finally punched a hole in the chicken machine. Dozens of chickens flew out, they ran around madly on the ground and the usher ran over to the chicken infestation.

"Keep your eyes closed, they will pick out your eyes!" the usher said before falling, allowing the chickens to climb all over him.

"Now's our chance!" Olivia exclaimed. Me, Axel, Olivia, Petra, and Lucas all ran inside the hall. The show had not begun yet and the crowd was small.

"Where'd he go?" Petra asked I Iooked around.

"There!" I exclaimed, pointing to a open door off to the side, almost out of view. We all ran to the door.

"What do we do once we catch him?" Lukas asked.

"Whatever we have to" I said.

"You're way more intense than I gave you credit for, Jesse" Lukas told me.

"Ready?" I asked.

"Ready" Petra replied. Everyone peeked in.

"See anything?" I asked. There was a maze of bookshelf's and potions and the room was eerily dim.

"He must have went out another way" Petra whispered

"What is all this?" Olivia asked, walking further into the room

"It looks like it used to be the basement, pretty weird place to have a hideout" I said, following everyone as they began to examine the room.

"I bet you anything i'll find my Wither Skull here" Petra told me.

"And if we find anything else cool to steal along the way, so be it, right?" Axel asked, already looking for something to snatch.

"Axel, thats not what we're here to do" Petra reminded Axel.

"I did say we should do whatever we have to" I said.

"And if this guys around, what we have to do is steal" Axel added.

"I don't want to stoop to his level" Petra told Axel.

"But isn't that the best way to get back at him?" Axel asked.

"Ivor could come back any minute now, there's no time for looting" I told Axel

"There's always time for looting, Jesse, always" Axel told me.

"The faster we find what we're looking for , the faster we can get the heck out of here" I said. I walked through the bookshelf's and found Petra looking through a chest.

"Oh hello" Petra pulled a Golden Sword out and swung it "Too soft, too heavy."

"But super flashy" I said.

"Yeah, I don't think this guy does much fighting" Petra said. "Hey you still have that stone sword, right?"

"No, I had to give it to some jerk wad butcher to save Reuben's life" I told her.

"Well, I guess its a pretty good cause, here" she handed me the sword "now that's two you owe me" Petra told me.

"Thanks, again" I said.

"You're welcome, don't loose that one" Petra said and continued to look through the chest. I then looked to the left of Axel and found a fancy potion that glowed a pinkish-purple color.

"Ooh, take a look at this!" I exclaimed.

"You're not gonna believe me but I swear I had a dream about this" Axel walked over and stared at the potion.

"I know potion, I know this is a big step but, I would be honored if you could come home with me" Axel said to the potion.

"Axel, leave it alone" I told him.

"Nope" Axel took the potion and put it in his pocket.

"There's no way he won't notice his fancy potion is missing" I told Axel.

"A good thief always covers his tracks" Axel grabbed another potion and put it where the fancy potion sat. "Fixed it" he whispered.

"Oh yeah, the perfect crime" that's when I noticed a lever that was behind the replacement potion Axel put in the place of the fancy potion. I walked over and flipped the switch. A wall fell and a secret room was revealed.
