Part 3: The Last Place You Look

It is said within every loss, every challenge, and every failure, comes a gift. When revered heroes are lost. We find new ones in our friends.

For some would rather our heroes story end here, shutting the door on their adventure, forever. But like all doors, when one closes, another is bound to open.

"...No!" Lukas cried out.

"Stop... him!" Axel exclaimed, charging after Ivor at what was anything but full speed.

"Hurry!" Olivia cried.

"Come... back... and... fight!" I shouted. The door closed.

"Watch... it... getoutoftheway!" Lukas exclaimed and fell. His words came out fast and slurred. Axel fell on his face. Everyone was silent.

"Someone say something" I told. them worriedly.

"Hamburger?"

"Donkey"

"Pants"

"Floor" Lukas, Olivia, Petra, and Axel said but not before Reuben snorted.

"We need to find Soren" I told everyone.

"Yeah" Lukas said. I looked at Petra who stood further away from everyone. Her face was a even paler color and there were dark circles under her eyes. She gripped her arm tightly. I walked overv to her worriedly.

"I still can't figure out how Ivor made the door close" Olivia scratched her chin.

"Maybe we should focus more on how it opens" Lukas replied. I walked over to her worriedly.

"That's basically what I said."

"You don't look so good" I told her.

"Thanks, man..." Petra furrowed her eyebrows,

"I didn't mean it like that" I sighed.

"I know..." Petra responded, sitting down with her legs and crossed "Look at this... I'm not trying to freak you out... but I'm at little bit freaked out right now... my arms starting to feel stiff" I looked at shock at her arm. More purple was spread across he arm. "And my vision's all jittery" she added.

"You're gonna be fine" I told her.

"It's really painful..." she said.

"It'll pass" I said firmly.

"Let's hope so" She sighed. "If it becomes more of a thing, I'll tell everyone, but let me do it" Petra's face was a gray color and her eyes glimmered a hint of fear in her eyes.

"Hey guys, I have an idea..." Axel smiled and I walked over to him.

"Okay..." Lukas said and Axel turned to the door.

"MAGNUS! HELP!" Axel screamed but nothing happened. "Well all right... but I have another idea."

"Is it yelling for Ellegaard?" Olivia questioned.

"Well... not... anymore" Axel muttered.

"Look, they aren't coming back" Lukas sighed "We have no idea where they are."

"They couldn't abandon us if they wanted to" I told Lukas "As long as we have..." I then reached into my pocket and pulled out the amulet, but it wasn't the amulet.

"Flint and Steel? I don't get it..." Olivia tilted her head.

"I-it's not... that's not what I meant to pull out..." I put the flint and steel back in my pocket "uh... hold on... this!" I pulled out the amulet, the red and green parts glowed for a moment but then faded.

"Looks like it might be broken" Petra pointed out.

"Here let me see it" Lukas grabbed the amulet but I held on tight. I pulled the amulet away but he didn't let go either "Maybe, you're just holding it wrong! Or maybe you have to jiggle it a little."

"I have a free arm you know, and on the end of it is a fist" I threatened.

"I just want to see it!"

"You can see it without touching."

"Not if you can't get it to work!"

"It's working fine!" Lukas let go when the white part of the amulet began to glow brightly. "Soren!"

"Find him, Jesse... maybe he can help us" Petra said. I walked a few steps and found the place where it glowed brightest. A spot on the floor

"This is the spot, it has to be."
