Felix's Sister
Chapter Twenty-Two
Cyrus' POVI called Kian throughout the day but he didn't answer until late that night. "Kian, it's Cyrus," I said.
"So it's you who's been calling me all day," he said. "Sorry for not picking up; I was busy at work."
"Yeah, I don't care what you were doing," I replied. "But listen, you remember that time that you got into an accident but I took the blame so you wouldn't get your license suspended? Yeah, I'm cashing in on the favor you owe me."
He hesitated. Wether it be needing a money loan, wanting to borrow his car, or asking him to summon a shadow creature to take me to a sociopath, he knew he was going to regret doing me a favor. "What do you want?" he asked.
"It's about my brother," I said. "I can't get back to where he is without someone's help. That's where you come in."
"You need my car?"
"Not quite," I picked up my bag and slung it over my shoulder. "I'll be over in less than ten."
I collected the bags from my shopping trip with Pan, then headed for Kian's, deciding to leave the stuff there until I got back again. For once, he buzzed me in as soon as I got there. I stepped into the apartment and walked toward the window, sliding it open. "So what do you need, Cyrus?" Kian asked.
"I need you to stand in front of this window and say something," I said, picking up a pen from the coffee table.
"Say what?"
I took his wrist and wrote the words on his hand. He cocked an eyebrow. "And just what is it I believe in?" he asked.
"I know you, Kian," I said. "And I know that you know something about fairytales, more specifically: Neverland."
He tensed. "What about it?"
"That it's real," I replied. "You've been there, you know you have. You just can't remember it."
"That's ridiculous."
"Is it? Say those words and then tell me what you think."
Kian stared at me for a minute, then walked towards the window. He glanced at me and took a breath. "I believe," he stated plainly.
After a moment, I saw a look of disappointment cross his face but he hid it quickly. "See? Nothing hap–"
His voice trailed off when the black figure appeared at the window. It reached out for Kian but I pushed him away and grabbed onto the creature. It struggled to get out of my grasp, not wanting to take me back to Neverland, but I held on tight.
The Shadow soon gave up and started back for the island, taking me with it. But then Kian grabbed hold of my arm. "Kian," I hissed. "let me go!"
"I'm not letting you go back to that psychopath," he said.
"I need to get my brother back," I said.
"Then I'm coming with you."
I didn't have time to argue and reluctantly agreed, ordering him to hold onto the Shadow. It wasn't happy, and struggled to get at least one of us off of it, but finally it gave in and continued for Neverland.
