Felix's Sister
Chapter Thirty
Pan's POV
It was dark when I landed in Dark Hollow. I found Cyrus where I had left her and with her, was Felix, just as I had ordered. Felix stood when he saw me but Cyrus just glared at me from her spot on the ground.
"I'll see you back at the camp, Felix," I said and he hesitantly left. I looked at Cyrus. "Cyrus, you look upset."
"You hurt Henry," she stated plainly.
I chuckled. "You act like you've never hurt anyone, Femme Fatale."
She shook her head, looking at her lap. "I'm not that person anymore."
"Of course you're not, Pet." I rolled my eyes. "Now, I didn't come here to argue ethics. So, about our discussion when I left..."
She clenched her fists but I could see her cheeks turning pink. "You invaded my privacy by entering my mind so you
can't use anything you saw against me."
"Now who said anything about using it against you? I thought we'd be able to think of something to use to both of our advantage."
Cyrus looked up at me, angry. She shook her head, deciding I wasn't worth her time. "Just take the cuff off," she muttered, holding her arm out to me.
I knelt to be level with her before pulling off the cuff, my hand lingering at hers. She scowled in disgust and stood up, the rope disintegrating around her. "You're a despicable human being," she hissed as she walked passed me.
"Oh but you like it that way."
She walked quickly ahead of me and I soon fell into stride beside her. She avoided looking at me, keeping her eyes at the ground and her arms crossed over her chest. Her breaths were sharp, escaping through her nose at an accelerated speed.
Great, you've made her angry.
"Cyrus," I started. "I was just joking."
She rolled her eyes, biting her lip to keep quiet.
"I won't look at your thoughts again, if that'll make you happy–"
Cyrus stopped and turned toward me, the back of her hand connecting with my cheek sharply. I stood there, stunned by the sudden action. "It's not about you looking into my head!" she yelled. "It's about you taking Henry's heart!"
I stared at her for a moment, still dumbfounded from what she had done. "I–"
"I don't care what you have to say about it!" she snarled. "You're a monster and you always will be!"
She disappeared in a cloud of blood-red smoke, leaving me alone in the woods, trying to process what had just happened. I sulked back to camp, angry and confused and even sad that Cyrus had treated me like that.
"Pan," Felix said as he walked toward me. "where's Cyrus?"
"I don't know," I answered truthfully.
"What did you do to her?" he demanded.
"I didn't do anything to her," I snapped. "In fact, it was quite the opposite; she hit me." I put my hand to my cheek, chuckling at the thought as though it amused me.
"Why would she hit you?"
"She was upset about the thing with Henry," I explained. "She slapped me then disappeared. I honestly have no idea where she went."
