you ask me how I'm doing

and I'll answer with "alright"

but little do you know

all the words that fit inside.

I know I can't sing

though I'm kind of alright.

I know I'm not a famous athlete

though I can play alright.

Not a famous artist

but I guess I'm alright

Not a straight A student

but my grades are still alright.

Not a model

not a poet

not a writer

nor am I a queen

not much of me is special

I'm not really anything

I suppose I can't complain

since I'm capable of so much.

But really, I'm only average

not amazing at very much.

So when you ask me how I'm doing

I smile with an "alright"

because really, that's what I am

though you can't see it at first sight.
