"Clarissa!! No no no no no!!" Avi ran to his fiancé laying unconscious on the ground. He blamed himself for everything that had happend. Everything, from the start, was his fault. He lifted her head ever so slightly, trying to find her eyes but they were closed. He searched for a heartbeat, for a sign that she was still alive, in vain. She left this world in front of his eyes and he did nothing to prevent it. "Baby please come back!"His cries filled the cold winter night. Her limp body in his arms, the white snow underneath them patterned with her red blood. Her somewhat big pregnancy belly, unmoving. Avi put a hand on top of it, trying to find any evidence of life but there was none."Please...I'm sorry..I need you, don't leave me..!"Avi knew he was quilty. Guilty for letting her go in a moment of pure anger and sadness. Guilty for letting her drive in a car although she was crying because of him. Guilty because he wasn't there to prevent the car accident. He lost his fiancé of six years and.. his beautiful little daughter who was meant to meet her parents in a few months. He was guilty for ending the life of not one but two people he loved dearly and for what? For a mistake he made while not thinking straight. He said things he never imagined would escape his mouth and only because he was scared, scared of responsibility? Stupid . He enclosed himself in his house, not moving anything, not stepping inside their once shared bedroom. He slept on the couch if he could close an eye, barely ate and avoided anyone. His bandmates tried to get him out of the house but nobody got through him. He cried and screamed through the nights, seeing her in his dreams. How she cried for him to let her go, how she broke down under his touch. Avi had everything. A big house in the mountains, a steady career with his band and a beautiful woman by his side. He loved her for six years and never thought that she would leave him like this, taking his first and only daughter with her. The bass was alone now and it was all his fault.
"Avi.. please..."
He hated that word. Please. Someone begging for him to do something, to help. He couldn't sleep at night because of this one word. Please... It was what Clarissa told him over and over again when she was still near him. Three years passed by faster than he could've ever imagined. He went on tour, he acted as if nothing happend, the fans never knew about her. Inside he was a mess, never talked back stage, avoided to talk to his bandmates who tried to cheer him up but he didn't want that. They couldn't know how he felt, they couldn't even imagine the void in his broken heart. Scott, Kirstie, Mitch and Kevin were in a relationship. Some of them were engaged just like he and Clarissa were...
"I know it's hard but can you at least try? For me?"
Esther, his sister, had tried it for the past three years. She drove to him every single day to make sure that his little brother was still alive. As for her she was married as well and when she invited him to come to his wedding he didn't show up. She was heartbroken, of course, but she understood. He was so close to be part of someone else's life forever, but it got destroyed in a matter of seconds.
"Es.. I can't.."
Only she had a key to his house, she got it from him since he knew that he wouldn't be able to do anything by himself without any motivation left. She had arranged a meeting with the band, now that tour was over, and wanted them to bond again as friends.
"Only this one time?"
He looked up at her pleading eyes and his own started to burn with tears. Only once had he seen that kind of expression. Clarissa... Avi wanted to make up his mistake from years ago. He got up,backed away from his sister and went to change his clothes.
"Fine.."
Esther squaked when he agreed. For the first time in three years he would leave the house. Avi became an anxious mess after loosing her and his child and he honestly already had second thoughts about going. For Esther it was a step towards a better direction. She couldn't attend the meeting since she had work to do but she knew that Avi would be just fine.. well, until he discovered that his bandmates came with their significant others. On the one hand she wanted to tell and warn him but on the other she knew that he would refuse to meet them. Esther could only hope for the best, infact she instructed the others to be uplifting and careful with their words around Avi and they actually agreed to do that for him. He came down the stairs, wearing black jeans, a black button-up, his hair covered with a black beanie and holding a leather jacket in his hand. She looked him up and down and gave him an encouraging smile. He passed by and he looked into her eyes. So much sorrow, so much sadness and concern, all gathered in this man's eyes. Esther held her breath, taking in the emotions she saw in them. He patted her arm softly, touching her for the first time since the tragic event and when he left the house she could still feel his touch on her skin.
