"We should go..."

"NO!"

The girl stood up and backed away, frightened because of the angered tone in the voice of the man she had given the flower to. Her eyes wide, tears shimmering in the corner,s ready to fall at any moment. Remembering her past, the reason why she was here and thinking about remaining in that orphanage made her instable and sadder than she had been before. Avi's face softened as he saw her fear and he reached out and through the fence in order to assure her that everything was okay, that she shouldn't fear him and his accidental outburst.

"Girl! Come back in!"

The woman's voice made the little girl stiften up. She nodded once towards the two men on the other side of the fence before turning around and hurrying to get inside, not wanting to get into any trouble with the woman overseeing the orphans. Her long hair flew in the wind, another flower which she had put into a few strains, before sitting down to talk, fell onto the ground, Avi's eyes followed it. The door slammed close and made the bearded man blink a few times, he hadn't realized that Tim was kneeling beside him.

"Are you okay?"

"I don't know."

"Let's go home. Come on."

Tim helped him up, putting his arm around Avi's shoulder to guide him away from the fence and towards the buildings once again. He could tell that the smaller man was sunk in his own thoughts and he let him think about the situation and the girl, he had every right to do so.

"She can't be it. Can she? But how's that possible? Clarissa lost the child when.. when she died. Unless.. No. Could it be that after all those years she had lied to me? When she was pregnant while I was on the road, on tour, with my band. When they had to cheer me up so I wouldn't cancel the shows because of my inability to not think about our lost child? She was pregnant before, but she said she lost it and... I wasn't gone for nine months. Was I? How could she keep it a secret? Why didn't she want me to see our kid? Was there more behind it? "

Tim observed Avi, they had arrived at the apartment a while ago but since he was lost in his own mind he couldn't take in his surroundings, causing him to stand before the door for at least 10 minutes.

"We're home."

Caressing his arm Tim smiled at  the man he had grown very fond of and proceeded to open the door, his eyes never leaving Avi who was now stroking his beard, his gaze glued to the ground. Sighing, Tim put his one arm around Avi's upper body and then bend down to sweep him off of his feet, carrying the smaller man inside the room bridal style. Avi, of course, didn't notice anything.
Reaching the hall Tim put Avi down onto his feet again and announced that he would go and take a shower before preparing dinner for the both of them. While he walked upstairs and into the bathroom, gathering everything he needed for the shower, Avi stepped closer to the wall on which he had seen the pictures hanging. The one with the girl in it was his main focus.

"You..."

He took the picture down and walked with it into the living room where he found enough sun light left to illuminate the photograph fully. It was her. Ellie-Grace. The orphan, the lonely girl who appeared to be the most joyful little girl in the world but had to bear a sad past and probably an even sadder future if no one would take her out of the orphanage anytime soon.

"...are my daughter."

His heart stopped beating at the realization.

Everything made sense.

He put the bits and pieces together until they formed a picture so clear he couldn't understand how he had overseen the crucial information in it.

That girl was his daughter. The one Clarissa had claimed she had lost. The child Avi had spend days crying over it, because his fiancée had lost it. Clarissa was afraid of the commitment to be the mother of a child while being alone for the first few months and gave her away. But the girl didn't die. Ellie-Grace was alive. He had seen her. He was indeed a father to a child. Everything he ever wanted: A family, even though he couldn't have it with Clarissa.. he could have it with Tim and Ellie-Grace. If they wanted to.

The shattering of glass brought him back to reality, the picture frame laying on the ground, glass all around the bass. He looked down onto the ground, taking in the mess he had created before meeting the eyes of his saviour who had heard the loud noise and was standing with nothing but a towel around his waist on the other side of the living room, looking at Avi with sympathy.

"You figured it out..."
