When Avi walked down the stairs, after he had spent half an hour thinking about Tim and his own future, he took in the delicious smell of fresh made croissants and... pancakes?
Clarissa ghost always punished him for eating. She would let him barely touch any food and if he ate it either way he would have to face treatment in the bathroom. Whenever he was in public and had to swollow down something edible the only feeling consuming him was guilt and self hate. Every bite hurt and every piece of bread made him feel miserable but no one understood. They just shoved food into his direction, even when he declined and he hated every second of it. When he was alone it was quite easy to skip meals but when someone offered him something he couldn't just throw it away. That would be rude and uncalled for. As soon as he had swallowed he felt the scars on his forearms, itching and reminding him of what was about to come.
He shook the thoughts away and put a smile on his face. This was Tim, Clarissa was gone. She wouldn't harm him anymore. Positive thoughts. He reached the bottom of the stairs and proceeded to walk towards the kitchen, the smell becoming stronger with every step, causing his stomach to growl louder. Turning to his left he met the eyes of his saviour and new love, staring with love into his, a smile forming on his lips as well.
"Hungry?"
"Yes."
The sun shone onto the beautifully decorated table in the kitchen. Croissants, toast, muffins and freshly made pancakes laid on different plates. A variety of condiments placed next to them and a bouquet of flowers in the middle of the table. Avi's eyes lingered on the beautiful petals and the rest of the decoration. Tim had done that? Only for him? A former nobody and worthless person? The one who killed his wife and daughter? The one who shouldn't get any gifts at all?
"I want to show you something later on. Are you ready to go outside again?"
He sat down and waited for Tim to leave the stove and sit down in front of him, then he reached for the glass of water and took a sip, thinking about his words. The outside world was a messed up place. Here he felt kind of secure, now that she was gone. If he would leave now he would eventually have to see former fans asking him questions of why he had left the band. The band. They haven't contacted him at all. Were they even worrying about him? Kirstie seemed to care for him.. didn't she? And Esther? The one who urged him to leave his home and get under the wheels of the bus in which his friends sat. The one who was actually the reason he had met his love. Where was she now? He worried about the paparazzi and what they would write on the newspaper. Not that he cared but he was scared that those printed sentences could bring him down again. Avi Kaplan leaving Pentatonix. After death of fiancé and daughter, everything going downhill?
"Okay. But.. uhm.."
"You can borrow my clothes and we could trim your beard and cut your hair if you want. They won't recognize you."
Tears began to gather in Avi's eyes. He slowly stood up and walked around the table until he stopped right in front of Tim, his brown eyes showing concern and worry. One tear escaped and rolled down his cheek.
"Avi?"
The smaller man stepped forward and hugged Tim tightly, burying his face into his shoulder, sobbing heavily. Tim did his best and lowered his body so that Avi was straddling his hips. He rubbed his back and kissed the top of his head while he cried.
"What's wrong honey? Talk to me."
Avi sobbed once more before he leaned back and wiped away his tears.
"Thank you. F-for everything."
"No need to.."
Avi's lips slammed into his, causing Tim to moan slightly. Out of shock at first. His arms held the smaller man tight to his own body and they remained like that until their coffees got cold.

They decided to do the makeover in Tim's bedroom. The bathroom was a red zone for Avi and reminded him of the night before, something he wanted to forget as soon as possible. He sat on a stool, facing the mirror attached to the closet. Tim looked at him and when he got the okay the scissor closed and strands of long brown hair fell to the ground. Not much but still a part of who Avi was and he was glad that he could leave some of his past behind. Clarissa loved his long hair.. or not. It didn't matter because Tim would cut it to Avi's liking and no one elses. After doing his hair he took the shaver and started to trim Avi's beard.
When he was down Avi looked like a completely new person.
Shorter hair.
Shorter beard.
New clothes.
A glow in his eyes.
He was ready to face the world, but only with Tim by his side.
