His footsteps weren't audible, the sound got swallowed by the black devouring carpet, occulting the floor up to the furthest corner. His presence however petrified the body of the rescued man, making his heart beat in an unsteady pace, causing him to breathe haltingly as soon as he noticed another person in this room. Avi felt trapped, rigidly detained at his place with no place to escape. His stare felt like iron chains on his body, tightening and piercing right through him. Avi's head howled to him, he should run, he should safe himself, but why? Wasn't his saviour right behind him? Silence between them, even more painful than the commotions in Avi's head. Run! Uncertain of where his strength came from he lowered the magazine, gulping down the painful feeling in his throat, keeping his eyes tightly shut. Why didn't his reedemer say anything? One false movement could cost him his life but on the other hand...didn't he want to die?
Shut. Doors, windows, cabinets, spiracles, his heart. Shut. His room was dark, the blinding folds closed down to the last hole. No ray of sunshine should ever hit his skin again when the only sunshine in his heart was gone. How could a man survive with no food, no water, no light? He couldn't. Avi's body felt lifeless, trying with its last strength to crawl towards the muse which was no longer there. She said goodbye the moment the doors shut, letting go of her life. If he had the power what would he had done to prevent her from going? He could've said how much he loved her, that she was the only person on his mind who hung onto forever. He could've wrecked his own body, following her wishes, not minding about the fact that he could cause more pain to himself than to her. She was his queen, a delicate treasure with a mind and will so strong it moved mountains. The only person who moved him forward while pulling him back by his heart, parting him from his friends and family to stay with her. Loosing her meant more than just loosing his fiancé. It meant loosing his bestfriend, his muse, a mother, his chaplain, his other half. He lost himself that winter night and everytime a snowflake hit the window of his bedroom he would shed a single tear. How many times did he cry himself to sleep? How many times did he think about ending his life since there was nothing left than a lifeless shell of himself. Everyone had moved on, showed him repeatedly that he was no one in this world, just another unnecessary face in the crowd, so why bother? He never did it because of her. He deserved to feel ache, the pain in every living cell of his body, the reason why he was alive and she wasn't. Paranoid that she was still with him he followed the orders she would throw at him, fullfilling her dreams day by day until he was empty inside. Dying, he would think, is like falling asleep next to the person you love with the difference that you would never see them again. The night, when he ran out of the restaurant she was vivid in his mind. The snowflakes reminded him of his crime, whispering how guilty he was until he decided to let go. Not from her, but from life.
His shoulders started to tremble, reflecting his heart and how it tried to recollect its disjointed pieces. Eyes ,still shut, set free the tears he hadn't shed for her for today like he was supposed to. The tears sweeped down his face so elegantly, as if they knew their destination. His hands tried to hold hers only to find nothing more than air. He didn't want to cry now. He didn't. But how could you await something like that from a man who imagined his dead fiancé next to him day by day? She haunted his mind, reminding him of being a murderer of two people of which he had only met one. His daughter could never see the light of the world because of him. Avi opened his eyes, freezing when he saw a pair of black shoes in front of him. How did the man get there? It was as if he had floated from one side of the room to the other. Avi felt how panic was taking over his body. He told himself repeatedly not to faint, somehow convincing himself that nothing would happen. His glances wandered up, displaying a pair of black jeans, followed by a red button up shirt. Avi didn't want to go further but realized that he had to face his saver sooner or later. He inhaled the thick air surrounding him like a constraining cloud, making him suffocated more and more by the minute. He resumed what he was doing before, taking in the long brown hair falling on the broad shoulders, resembling his own only that his weren't dark. A slight beard framed the chin, plump pink lips, followed by a straight nose.
This was it. One inch further and he would look into his eyes, into the windows of his soul, the entrance to his emotions and thoughts. He gathered up, being the man he was supposed to be although he had been crying a few minutes before. Avi looked him directly into his eyes, disappearing in chocolate brown eyes. Everything stood still. His heart stopped moving, his breath got stuck in his lungs and only fluff moved in the distance. Everything Avi was longing for in those past three years he seemed to had found in these eyes. Concern, understanding, compassion and support. The man smiled a little, extending his right hand but Avi just kept staring. Something about him was just so familiar he couldn't grasp it. He noticed that he was gazing and shook his head before looking down at the hand. His savior introduced himself, making Avi gulp.
"Hi.I'm Tim."
