"He was kinda cute..." I said to Aliyah and Laila
"Whatchu mean kinda? If he cute he cute." Aliyah said
"You right on that but I don't know. He was a bit of a douche." I looked at both of them through my laptop screen on my desk.
"Well I gotta see the little nigga myself." Laila sassed
"Probably won't be anytime sooner. It's like he has something against me-" Aliyah cut me off.
"Didn't he hold the bag for you? He ain't got nothing against you." She picked at her arm
"So? I can hold a bag for anyone. Don't mean I like them."
"Well that's cuz you...Leslie, you don't like anyone." Laila said
"Get out here with that bull. I do like people." I frowned
"Sure you do. So what happened with that TT girl. We need to come up there and beat a bitch up?" Aliyah asked in all seriousness
"Oh yeah! Don't get me started on that little bitch."
"She just came up on you out of no where?" Laila said
"I mean basically. She thought she was the shit until I piped her loud ass down. I think that was the boy's girl or something because he was over there comforting her before he came in the store. I'll have to ask next time I see him. I feel bad for him if he go out with that punk ass bitch." I got angry again
"What's it to you? You barley know him. You don't even remember his name. So what if he dating TT, that's his problem and stop calling her out of her name she was probably just talking. You know how we are, always thinking shit happening." Aliyah said clearly annoyed with Laila and I. She was right
"You have a point but she the one that disrespected me. If anything, no one was saying shit to her until she decided to step up."
"I understand that but..." Aliyah trailed off
"Exactly. Ain't no but in this, that was her fault wanting to be a big girl."
"That's why May left us." Laila said
"What do you mean?" I asked
"All this fucking drama. It don't matter where we are, we miles apart and there is still drama. We need to stop that, especially you Leslie. It ain't cute!"
"Me? May left because of me and my drama. Mhm, because Leslie don't know how not say shit back and she acting brand new." I said sarcastically
"It's true!" Laila yelled back
"I'm only like that cause words don't have a specific place! People talk shit before knowing what you about!! I ain't the only one doing it. What's the name crew at school do that shit everyday but now that I'm breaking my silence there's a problem? Now that I'm finally standing up for myself it's a problem? Y'all know how hard school is for me! You know!" I yelled back. "I'm tired of being shy and tossed around like I don't care cause I do, I do care and those words hurt me. They sting!"
We grew silent. Tears flooded out of my eyes and I can tell they were on the verge of tears too.
"I ain't mean what I said..." Laila said softly
"It wasn't Leslie's fault that May left, Laila." Aliyah said "She left because of the drama from other people...not Les."
"I understand." She said as she wiped the tears away with the back of her hand "I'm sorry Leslie. What I said was fucked up."
"It's cool." I forgave Laila but why did she say what she said in the first place?
"I guess that one time when you finally said something back to those girls it made me see you differently but you was just tired of them talking and you just went off. You found peace."
"No I didn't. I'm far from finding it. Like you said, it was just that one time. Once ain't nothin'."
"Oh...well uh. Let's chat later. This call ain't work out." Aliyah said
I nodded my head and shut the my laptop and got up from my desk. I wanted to scream but I just ended up crying into my pillow. The school year flashed in my mind again and it was driving me crazy. How weak I am. It's like this past years drama is coming back for me. Karma?
