*** Just saying, this is my first time ever writing a book, so yeah. Don't expect a masterpiece or something. Oh, and also, this was inspired by 2 books that I love- The Selection Series by Kiera Cass and Canterwood Crest by Jessica Burkhart ***

Brianna's PoV:

I never wanted to be here. It is as simple as that. I always thought that no matter how old you were, you could always make your own decisions. But... life doesn't work like that. I am Brianna Stone, born and raised in Windersgale. And to be clear, I do NOT have a crush on the prince, Prince Evan.

ACTUAL BEGINNING OF THE STORY:

I turned on the TV, switching through the channels. As I passed Royal Business News (No, that's not a real thing i dont think), I heard Drew Inglers saying the last part of his announcement. "---royal competition."

I sucked in a breath, and clicked << on the remote. I paid close attention this time. "Welcome citizens of Lanonia to R.B.News! Today, his Royal Highness, Prince Evan, and his Royal Majesty, King Anthony, have a special announcement!" he exclaimed, and the cameras shifted over to the prince and king. I rolled my eyes at the thought of being in some lame competition just to marry a prince. That is when I heard the door open. "Breeeeeeee!!!!" my little sister, Heather, sang. As she skipped into the living room, she paused. "Is that R.B.News?!" she shrieked. "No," I said sarcastically, "It's PBS Kids."

"Don't play around with me," Heather complained, and hopped onto the couch. "What's going on?" she asked, poking my side. "How 'bout you shut up and listen," I snapped. I watched my sister's mouth open to object, but then she closed it. I smiled, satisfied. "Hello, people of Lanonia! My son and I will be telling you something very interesting today!" King Anthony smiled, but if I looked closely, I could see he was faking it. He passed the mic over to the prince. "OOOOOHHHHH!!!!!!!! He's sooooo HOT!!!" Heather squealed. "Mhm," I muttered. To me, he looked as stiff as a board. Sure, his chocolate brown hair that matched mine was really cute, and his blue eyes were gorgeous, but I wouldn't fall for him. "Yes, we do have info that many girls AND boys would like to hear. As you know, my sister, Princess Camilla, is currently visiting Italy with my mother, so it will just be me talking today. We are hosting a competition that is located at Silvercrest Academy for Young Royals. This will give ladies from ages 18-20 a chance to be my wife. It will also give men from ages 20-23 a chance to be my sister's husband. And, today, we will be randomly picking the contestants from many cities," he concluded.

"Maybe you are going to do it!" Heather screamed. I covered my ears, and shook my head. "I didn't enter, at least I don't think I did. I haven't heard about this till today," I said. Heather smiled mischievously, and raised an eyebrow. I raised an eyebrow back and made a silly face, which made Heather break out into a laugh. At 18, my 14-year-old sister and I still had a lively relationship. My mom walked into the room, clutching her back as she walked. "Are you okay?" I asked, standing up to help her. "Yup, just growing older," she chuckled. "Whatcha watching?" she said, looking at the TV. "Oh, they're hosting a competition for girls my age to compete to marry the prince. They also have one for men," I explained. "Hm," was all my mom said as a reply. She sat down in the recliner chair next to Heather and me.

"Now, ladies are first, so we will get to it," the prince announced, his smile widening. I peered closely, and realized that his smile was genuine. I felt my cheeks get hot, and Heather must've noticed because she said, "You looooove him!"

"Do not," I spat. "Suuuuuree," she laughed. "From Hawthorne, Lady Aurelie White!" There was a bunch of applause, as well as a couple whistles and screams. All I really cared about was Windersgale. This was because Windersgale is a small city, and I practically know everyone here that's my age. I couldn't wait to congratulate whomever it was. After a couple minutes of waiting, the prince looked down at his paper. "From Windersgale, Lady Brianna Stone!" he exclaimed. A picture of me from prom went up on the screen.
