I hear a soft knock on my door. It seems hesitant. I roll out of bed and slip on the never-worn nightgown (shown above). Might as well wear it. I think I've worn my other shirt 20+ times. It's tight on the top, but flowy on the bottom. I jam my toes into the slippers and slowly open the door. I see Evan's face, it seems tear-stained. "What?" I snapped. He grimaces at my tone, but replies, "I came to tell you I'm sorry."
"Sorry won't cut it. I came to the bowling alley to see you, but instead, I see you kissing some rude brat."
"First off, I don't appreciate you calling my contestants- brats."
"Fine, if we're talking formal... First off, I don't appreciate you kissing other girls on OUR date."
"Well, you wouldn't care if you really don't like me."
That shut me up. "Do you like me?" he asks, tentatively. I gave him a flirtatious smile and tried to go to my bed. His muscular arms picked me up and he flung me over his shoulder. I squealed and kicked. "Geez, you're heavy," he complained. "Then put me down!" I exclaimed. "Your wish is my command," he laughed, and threw me onto the bed. "EVAN!!!! Oh, you're so going to get it!!!" I screeched, and I threw myself on top of him. He grunted, but then started tickling me. I screamed and laughed and cried all at the same time. He stopped and smiled. "So we're on good terms then?"
"Hm, as long as you stop tickling me, then yes."
"Oh, you're going to have to agree anyway," he grinned and started tickling me again. "You never answered my question, though," he pointed out. "I don't know," I said. Was I ready to give up my dream of being a confident, determined single woman? Do I really need a guy in my life? I saw Evan's eyelids droop, so I lifted his chin so that he could look straight into my eyes. "I'm not saying that we have no hope though. I just need to think about it before I give my life to a royal pain in the butt," I laugh. He laughs as well, and I'm *almost* sad to see him leave.
*Just saying, this chapter was really short b/c it was a really short scene and I have to go watch the Super Bowl! Plus, I just started this book today, so getting 6 chapters done is pretty good. Hoping that the Broncos win!*
