Brianna's PoV:
Ever since I confessed my love to Evan, we have been on each others' good side. I slowly get up from my bed and make my way to the closet. "What to wear..." I rummage through all of the dresses, trying to find something not as girly. I finally come upon a white lace top and ripped jeans. "Perfect," I nod, and slide on some gold flats.
I am soon standing in front of his door, waiting for him to say that I can come in. Soon enough, the door clicks open and there stands Evan with cute tousled hair and a faint pillow imprint on his left cheek... so adorable. "Hey you," he takes my hand and leads me into the room. "Hey," I respond, playing with a stray piece of my hair. "What did you want to talk about?" he asks, raising an eyebrow. "Nothing in particular... I just wanted to see you... is there something wrong with that?" I admit. He laughs at my question and looks at me weirdly. "Is there food on my face?" I question, rubbing my cheek on instinct. "No, no, darling... it's just... well... before you thought of me as a shallow, stuck-up jerk, and now... you want to spend time with me," he confesses, and continues with his statement, "You've changed so much, Bree, and you keep on changing right before my eyes."
"I know... it's horrible," I say sarcastically, laughing. "Do you like Christmas?" he asks, changing the topic abruptly. "Umm... yeah," I respond tentatively. "Good," he replies, his shoulders heaving down. "Why?" I wonder out loud. "Because I was planning a Christmas ball and was trying to see if people would actually appreciate something like that," he explains. "You're planning WHAT?!" I squeal with excitement. "A ball," he says smugly, and looks me in the eye, his humor vanishing. "But, you have to promise me to not lash out... last time Mara did, she almost got sent out of the country... and I don't want to have to never see you again," he states. I blush with embarrassment, realizing how much trouble I had caused Evan. He must've seen me, for he immediately embraces me. "I'm not saying that I don't like you're defiance, but you need to learn how to control it," he places a kiss on my forehead, and I leave.
With the news about the ball happening, my day instantly becomes brighter. I skip over to Aurelie and have tea with her in the herb garden. "We haven't seen each other in such a long time, Bree," she sips her earl grey tea. "I know right?! It's like we've been too busy to focus on our social life," I agree, while biting into a blueberry scone. "And it's not just us, I haven't seen Krista and Mara in a while," I confide. She nods and sweeps a piece of her hair away from her face. "It's too bad we can't have just one day that has no studying or tests or royal duties involved..." she daydreams, "That would literally be pure heaven if that happened," I laugh.
I decide to visit all my friends to catch up on the latest gossip (JK, cause I tomboy like me is *totally* interested in that kind of junk). "Hey Marabelle! Hey Krista!" I greet after spotting them at the pond. "Hey!" Mara smiles and stands up to hug me. Marabelle, Krista and I are becoming the "popular" group, but I feel bad since Mara and Aur still don't get along. Oh well... Aurelie is still one of my first and best friends in the entire competition. Lady Hope is still here, and she rarely comes up to talk to me, Krista, or Aurelie. I see her frequently asking Marabelle for things, such as homework assignments that she forgot to do, what grade she got for tests/quizzes, and what kind of makeup Mara is wearing... she drives me nuts.
When I finally go back to my suite, it's past 10:30, and I'm exhausted. I collapse onto my bed, cuddling underneath the sheets. I fall asleep to the sound of the winter wind, blowing the barren trees to and fro, and making the air crisp and cold. I close my eyes and peace envelopes me into a deep sleep.
