Marabelle's PoV:
Right when the King started to walk over to me, I had stiffened. Now, he drags me over to a private area, and puts his hands on his hips. "Whatever you do, do not talk. I have decided to make an alliance with you, so long as you keep quiet and stop making out with guys," he informs. I make a sly smile and nod for him to continue. "I personally don't approve of one contestant in this competition, and I believe that we share the same feelings," he starts. "Is it Lady Brianna?" I ask. "Correct."
"I can tell you that my son does, indeed, have feelings for this girl... however I disapprove of them."
"Why does Evan even like her?! She's a brat!"
"I wouldn't go there if I were you, Lady Marabelle. Even though I do not appreciate her presence, you have definitely been standing out way more than she has," he warns. I bite my lip and curse silently at myself. "Great, I just started to bond with the King, and then I was stupid and made him not like me anymore," I lecture myself quietly in my head.
"Anyway, I will tell you a secret as long as you stop being a stand-offish kind of girl," he proposes. "Tell me," I say a little too eagerly. He raises an eyebrow, but continues. "You should know that I'm quite rough on my son," he starts. "We all know," I admit. A hint of red surfaces his cheeks, but quickly vanishes. "Well... I'm cruel because I want Evan to eventually be sold off to a foreign country, so that I can reign longer, as well as earn an alliance with another country," he explains. "But it's not allowed to send the heir of the throne to another country. I thought that was only for princesses," I question. "I'm the king of Lanonia, I can do whatever I please... including changing the law," he declares. I nod and step back a little. "Who would marry him?" I ask. "Well, the princess of the Caribbean, Leilani, and Princess Jin of Asia, and Princess Josephine-Marie of Latin America are all choices. And we don't have alliances with the Caribbean or Asia. Josephine-Marie is my last option since we already are friends with her parents," he lists. "But how-" I begin to speak, but the king cuts me off. "Don't question my ways, girl... just listen..."
"You will not tell anyone of this secret that we now share... including the prince or princess, am I clear?" his voice is as cold as ice. I nod, and soon I'm back at the table, hoping to cover up the important information that I now have.
